A Small Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Review -DJ Sith- May 23 01:49am -15 comments- |
|
I honestly expected to see more about JK3 with all the E3 articles I've been trying to follow. I did however come accross a small review by Gabe at Penny Arcade (funny comic. read it. alot): If you want to know what the coolest thing about Jedi Academy is go back and read my post from when Jedi Knight II came out. Essentially I said it was cool but the multiplayer blew. I said what the game needed was mission based objectives that pitted rebels against imperials. Well that is exactly what they delivered. The gentleman delivering the demo told us that each mission will require players to select certain roles such as demolitions expert, Scout Walker pilot or even Jedi in order to complete the objective. He described how a Jedi might have to provide cover for a trooper as he planted a bomb that would destroy an imperial facility. Or how Imperial soldiers would need to blow open a wall protecting a rebel base allowing another player to pilot a Scout Walker in and start tearing shit up Endor style. It's got a single player mode as well that looked neat but I'll be buying this game for the multiplayer. So far I'm hearing good things about the game. The new terrain engine looks cool from what I saw in the trailers. I know this will hurt the rift between "FPS gamer" and "Star Wars fan" in the community, but I like how they're adding role elements to multiplayer. |

A little Matrix tidbit.. -DJ Sith- May 15 06:19pm -19 comments- |

I know this isn't necessarily Academy news, but we're all nerds here and as such are contractually bound by the Nerd Code to go nuts over anything to do with the Matrix. |

Thanks to Loaf for pointing out this really swank post over at jk2files.com giving some more impressions about Jedi Academy for the PC, XBox and some info about Raven Software. The description for the new drain power sounds quite cool. Everyone check it out! Edit by doobie: Here's the first footage we have of Jedi Academy in action... I have to say, I still think it's an April Fool's Joke |

The Academy Gets a UN Ambassador. -DJ Sith- May 13 08:32pm -36 comments- |

I recieved a message from Ulic Belouve, stating he'll be mainly inactive during the summer, but for a completely cool reason. Read on! ----- It seems as though the Jedi Academy has gained a Jedi Consular. I've had the fortune to be selected to go to the United Nations for a seminar/internship, which is fitting, as many of you might know my interests in Political Science. This is actually quite an achievement, and I hope to gain a lot of experience and opportunities. I'll be in New York City for a part of this summer, and will basically be getting a bunch of briefings, and then later on, be given a small project. As such, I'll be away from my both my wonderful homes, one in Wisconsin, and one here at the Academy. I'll keep all of you guys in mind, and hopefully return when I come back from the summer. I'll be around to drop comments, maybe, and might have access to e-mail if you really need my assistance. I merely felt that this is such a rare occurrence, to have a JA member go to the United Nations, but not only is that rare, but my good friend, and 'Padawan', Hector Thrawn, is likewise going to the United Nations at the same time. I've definitely worked hard for this opportunity, and I thank the Academy for being there to back me up, even when I am doing papers, and on IRC, talking about how terra nullius applies to ducks lol. I can't say that it was because of you guys that I made this option, but I can't say that I did it without your backing me. So, yeah, hey, raise your sabers to myself and Hector, but also look at what you guys have sent from your own ranks. The JA should be proud of some of the people it comes in contact with, some of the people it encourages. So raise your sabers to yourselves as well, I don't want to be inflating my own ego here. But I'll keep my account active, and keep my saber and Jedi robe hung by the door. I'll be back sometime, guys. Until then, keep being the great people that you are. ~Ulic Belouve ----- This is a super cool opportunity for you, Ulic & I'm proud of you. I'll give you cash money for a picture of you or Hector in Jedi Robes shaking Kofi Annan's hand. |
