Jedi Knight 3 has been officially named Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
Game Features Revealed In Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, you will be able to create your character as well as construct your own lightsaber from handle to blade color! Star Wars® Jedi Knight®: Jedi Academy™ allows players to immerse themselves in the classic Star Wars universe as they take on the role of a student eager to learn the ways of the Force from Master Luke Skywalker. Players will interact with famous classic Star Wars locations and characters while facing the ultimate choice: fight for good and freedom in the light side or follow the path of power and evil to the dark side. Players can create their own characters by defining various characteristics, such as species, gender, clothing and physical attributes allowing for a more personal experience before entering the academy to learn the powers - and dangers - of the Force. Construct your own lightsaber from handle to blade color. Utilize two if you prefer or try the ultimate dual-bladed lightsaber made famous by Darth Maul. Unique tiered level selection allows players to choose their adventure and the missions they take based on the skills they need to become the ultimate Jedi Knight. Additional multiplayer modes add depth to the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight legacy. Players can partake in a variety of unique modes. Don't put any faith in what the current models look like. Just go to the JK2 website at lucasarts and look at some of the first screenshots for the game on PC. erm, i don't think so. Firstly tha fact that Jedi is copyright to G. Lucas, secondly that the Jedi Academy was in the last game, and thirdly -- we aren't doing it.

They don't have a release date yet. All they've said is fall 2003. And since its only April, I wouldn't put any faith in a planned release date yet. There are a bazillion orgs out there called "The Jedi Academy". Actually when JS999, Doobie, and I were just starting out we were contacted by a group called the Jedi Academy who told us our name infringed on their trademark and we had to change it. In not so many words we told them "Screw you. If you have something legal to show us have your lawyer mail us a letter stating <blah blah> on his firms letterhead to <this address>". We also told them that they were a bunch of fans like we were and Lucasfilms would be dissapointed to hear that they tried to trademark anythign to do with the Star Wars name. We didn't hear from them after that. That eventually led to our little disclaimer at the bottom of the site.
Since we have that disclaimer I doubt LEC would do much to us. And we can always change it if the situation requires. I just don't want people to think we named ourselves after JK3 or for people to get confused. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

Um Link I really hope you play with a copy of the game that you actually bought. Cause some people have made it known that they don't. And they have costed Lucasarts and Raven money. And you could say that its only $50 that it cost them. But if its 2 people then its $100. And if its 100 people then its $5000. I remember several years ago that some websites for Star Trek were getting lawsuits filed against them due to using copyrighted materials of the Star Trek Franchise. I don't think that DJ is using anything copyrighted by Lucas. Think about the biggest thing they could get us on is not putting a TM or R symbol behind every time we say Luke Skywalker or Star Wars. This is essentially a fan site that isn't hurting them, and is really giving them free promotion since everyone that checks the news here knows there is going to be a new game coming out later in the year. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. I think they should advertise us with there game. Add a link to our site saying...If you want to learn bout this game vist "The Jedi Academy" http://academy.jediknightii.net or jediknightiii.net or whatever we change the site to if it changes. That would double our members, and maybe we could get an offical Lucas arts server. I mean DJ you should contatc these ppl and say "hey we can get ppl to buy your game because we exsist, you should advertise us with your game helping our non-profit membership, and your sales out" it would be w00tish if they made a few offical servers for us, and maybe an offical lucas arts map with all the cool shiznet we can't make

I agree with Obi-JK. I also took a small course in law during summer school, and while there is a small window for Lucasarts to come confront us on names, they really don't have much leverage (if any at all) to sue us for taking their name. I think I am correct in saying that the JA also started way before the development of JKIII, and that would also be in our favor. We are not getting any sort of financial advantage on the pure basis of our name, so stealing money is out for reasons to sue. And personally, I really think it cheap for a multimillion dollar company such as Raven or Lucasarts to come after a community of players that play THEIR game and do not steal any money from them. I think that's already covered with that fine print at the bottom of the page isn't it fonz? You know this line:
