You may have noticed that none of the recent news posts have been by me. Dj hired me to do the fricken news, so why won't you give me any?!? Anyways, a reminder. To submit news, gimmie an email here. Try and make it sensible stuff please. I don't really wanna post news about DJ and Silent's bedroom antics thankyou Insaniac...

Amoung the chitter chatter of the Trainers/Counsil/Staff... I proposed an idea of a open session... Basicly what happens is that if a trainer is to choose a open session as a class type, no one would be able to enroll, and anyone would be able to join the "class". Trainers will be open to any questions and training they want, so students will be able to get onto a one on one with the trainers as well as OTHER STUDENTS. Now I've been hosting unoffical Open sessions every night at 1:00am my time... I'll be marking this as a class time. If you support this new cause, post here, give your thoughts and comments :)

Our dutiful mod programmer cHoSeN oNe has cranked out an update to the Jedi Academy Mod. The most current version is now at 1.1. Here's some of the changes made:

  • New Custom cVar welcome message in console.

  • mgametype - Trainers can now change maps/gametypes.

  • mrandteams - Randomizes teams in CTF gameplay.

  • amhelp - Helps Admins, Client with admin commands. (Custom help messages capable)

  • 4 New Custom cVars to display messages for logged in/not logged in adminstrators upon use of admin command.

  • Improved Jedi Vs. Merc Mode.

  • g_mBlockThrow - allows client to lose thrown saber if blocked by opponent.

  • Fixed emote(s) exploit during Duels and SaberLocks.

  • Clients can now Duel in Team gamemods, cannot duel flagcarriers.

  • g_mDebugCheats - allows access to hidden features in JK2 (cVar default is 1)

  • mnpcaccess - allows client access to the NPC features.

  • mnpcnoaccess - disallows client access to the NPC features.

  • g2animent - spawns an NPC.

  • g2platoon - spawns a platoon of NPC's

It looks like Silent Whisper is back with us again as a Council member! Her new job here is "Enforcement". She'll be making sure our rules are getting followed. This means that if you need to report someone send your evidence her, not the council's email account. Those that remember her know she'll do great at this. :D Welcome back, Whispy!

A while back, i posted news about the Jedi Academy Student's Skins Database, and i've recieved alot of emails about adding skins, but the worst has come to the worst and I can't add any more because:

¬ The Phantom Menace TC now control the site.
¬ I was emailed by the host saying that I'm using up to much space.

So I'm sorry to all those people who have been emailing skins to me.

All you need to donate is your spare CPU cycles. Ulic Belouve, philanthropist extraordinaire, has set up a Folding@Home team for the JA to lend its CPUs to. What is Folding@Home? Funny you should ask:

"Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease."

So head on over to the Folding@Home site, download the client, and put 31419 as your team number and help the JA do something good for the world! You can check our team progress at this site, although it looks like it only updates every few hours with new members.

Anways, a few bits of crap to tell everyone:

Firstly, Beatstick has sent in a demo called "Superman" for the academy. I haven't watched it yet 'cos my JKII is messed up :). Download here.

Secondly, AsoAron has set up a Dutch Academy channel for all people who are dutch, and...well go to the academy... So if your dutch (like Aso), or your a bit dutch (like Loaf), then take a visit:

Also, congrats to my old pal Jacen Solo who is our new Lead Knight! w00t!

A note on sending emails to the Council... -doobie- Feb 24 11:41pm -7 comments-
Just a few things... first off, if you're going to send us a picture to our Hotmail account, you need to remember that we require all pictures to be 250x250 pixels or smaller, and 25Kb or smaller. Please don't send us .bmp files, and PUHLEASE don't send us .psd (Photoshop files). We'll delete them :).

Also, since it is a Hotmail account, we have limited space, so if you're going to send us a demo, send it to one of the JAC's personal email accounts (found in our profiles), not to the Hotmail account. When you only have 2 megabytes of space and someone send you an 800kb demo, your space runs out quickly :)
