Changes to how Classes work in the JA (Please Read)

It's time we started getting back to what the JA is actually here for - training anyone who wants/needs it to be more proficient fighters in and around the JK3 commuunity.
Not just teaching them to duel well on our own Servers.

We are aware of the problems the mod has been having in regard to matching basejka gameplay and we're currently working hard to resolve this but aside from that, the following changes are effective as of immediatly:

Firstly, although exploiting is "frowned upon", we are going to ease up on the use of them within the Academy. Meaning that we still prefer that you don't use them, but no one will bitch and whine about it if you do. This gives our Students a chance to train against them here at home, without having to venture out, looking for public servers with exploiters on them.

Our Trainers (and Knights) know how to beat exploiters using perfectly legitemate and very skillful methods which will be fully taught to you, eradicating your need to use them. Our goal is to be able to teach people to defend against them and beat them, and when enough people can do this, people will start to realise that it doesn't work to exploit anymore and learn clean styles (and actual skill).

Bare in mind that most exploiters aren't Mr. Evil Von Evil who is just trying to poon everyone. Most people who exploit these days came freshfaced into the JK3 community, seeing all this stuff and just thought it was "the way to play", it's all they know.
Bottom line, most of you are against exploits, so are we. But don't forget where you are and what we all stand for, we are respectful individuals and if someone exploits and you don't like it, what can I say? Either don't fight them or learn to beat them.
Don't give them a hard time about it. This goes for public servers and within the JA.

Secondly, here are the changes to how Classes are being taught, effective immediatly:

All JA classes now fall under one of three catagories:

Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced

We always had these tags for use on the Classes pages, but never had a real reason for them, well now we have one. :)
Descriptions of each class type is as follows:

Beginner
This class will teach you the core skills of any Lightsaber Type or Lightsaber Style (or guns, or Force, depending on the material). For sabers, you will learn to swing properly and you will learn basic combos and control - pretty much a foundation course which teaches you the basics.

Intermediate
This class will teach you advanced mechanics/tactics/strategies of whatever the core material of the class is (Saber type/style, guns, force etc). It will also teach you the core skills of how to defend against exploiters. It will basically help you to master any stance/style (movement and dueling strategy included)

Advanced
This type of class is a "Learning by doing" class. A Jedi Instructor will take a group of students out onto a public dueling/ffa/tffa server and help them get better with first hand experience. For example, if it's a Duel server, the Students can watch the Instructor fight and learn form him, when a Student is fighting the Instructor will spec him/her and give advice on what they are doing and how to improve.

The new Advanced Classes will help get the Students back in league with dueling on public servers again, they can use the skills taught to them in the JA and get help out in the field.
All Jedi Instructors are required to teach at least one Advanced Class.

Class types will be stated in brackets after the class name on the Classes page, for example - my class:

Yellow Stance Mastry (Intermediate)

As such, we now expect much more from Jedi Knight potentials - if you wish to become a Jedi Knight (or ranked in general), you will have to know your stuff - and appropriate testing WILL be implemented into the Trials.

If I have forgotten to mention something, I'll add it in a reply below and permy it.

Happy training, guys. :D

How come there are rarely dual bladed classes?
Unfortunately the we don't have any dual or staff experts with in the JAK+, Malak may be staff but I don't know if is planing on starting a class as yet. R2 is still around but very busy with college, so he can't run his duals class.

Yea, college keeps me busy and this summer I'll be working, so it will be hard to keep a class going. I guess we could try for 1-on-1 sessions when I'm off from college.

As for Malak, he has gone through my intro duals course and passed the "final." If he feels like teaching, he is quite qualified to do, depends on him ;)
