... then you know the site is going through fits. I'll be adjusting the MySQL server to work a little nicer and I'm doing an audit on the site code to make sure my stuff is running well enough. It appears the site is going through some times now. With our recent resurgance in activity all the site traffic is affecting game server performance. The solution to this is to move the website off to another physical server. I work at a datacenter (shameless plug: The Planet Internet Services and ServerMatrix) and can colocate a box or two for free. This network is quite stable and reliable (check the sites for the details. On the serverMatrix forums I go by "klaude". PM me and say hi.  ). I have some parts laying about the house, a case, PSU, video card, floppy drive, and CD drive to put in the server, but don't have much of else. This is why I'm announcing the JA Pledge Drive! I do my online shopping at newegg.com and have priced out parts for a good sized server that should serve us well: CPU: Athlon XP 2500+ Barton chip, 333Mhz bus Mobo: Asus A7V8X RAM: 2x 512M Cricual PC2700 HDD: Western Digital 7200RPM 80G 8M Cache The cost of this stuff is about $415. I need to get with Doobie to see how much is in our PayPal account, but I can gaurantee that it's not enough. This is where you come in. We need funds to purchase this. This is completely voluntary. If you don't have the funds or are 12 or something then don't sweat it. If you do wish to donate though please click the PayPal link in our menu. It's down while I get some things sorted out on it. Thank you for your patience. When it comes up it should be version rc2. ---[ updated ! ]------------- The version 2 doesnt work with FreeBSD unfortunatly, so v1 was re-established. The password was also changed, since it hadnt been changed evAr. Please be kind to the free fun services. Love, Huxley |

We're managing the servers old school since we don't have an admin mod for Jedi Academy yet. This means whenever you see someone laming on the servers you need to tell one of the JACs and include a screenshot with the console showing. Demos are even better. Taking a picture of a guy firing a rocket at you doesn't work. We need clear evidence before we do something. Remember its one warning then you're out. Papa don't take no mess! |

I've been asked to write "a little explaining speech to post on the news" and I agree I owe you people some more words about the whole thing so here goes: First of all, here's what I wrote in the forums: "This is it, I am stepping down. I've thought long and hard about this. My decision is final. I cannot do my job properly anymore and I feel the time is come for me to move on. I will get JK:JA one of these days and keep playing it here, as a student. My teaching days are over. JK2 is out the window for me. Sorry if it looks like I'm letting you guys down, this is really not my intent. And do not worry, I am not quitting for 'all the wrong reasons'. I know what I'm doing. It's been fun, and an honor, to work with all of you JACs, JATs, and JAKs. You guys do an awesome job! And it's been fun bossing all you JASs around  . I will still be around the forums and IRC, but you won't see me around the servers at least until I get JK3 (I know I haven't been on for a long time but now it's official},.Long live the Jedi Academy!! Bubu|JAT over and out." So yeah, Bubu is not longer a JAT. But fear not, I am NOT leaving. I repeat, I am NOT leaving. I will be around as usual, only without the rank. Many things have led to my decision. The main reasons are: a surge in RL responsibilities and commitments which brought about a lack of time to devote to teaching, a drastic decline in my interest in JK2, and inevitably, my fantastic ping on the servers (250+},. Once I get JK3, which should be some time around the end of this month, I will most probably start playing on the servers again. And, who knows, I might one day make it up to the top once more. I also intend to write up some of my classes as requested by the Holocron staff sometime in the near future. So hopefully my classes and my teachings will never be forgotten. For now, the only difference between the old and the new Bubu is the tag, and the fact that I will have no special powers, admin or otherwise. I love you all. - Bubu[JAS] |

NL server crashed a few minuts ago. I've left a message to the Gamecity fellas so it will probably be up soon. If they don't fix the config like we asked them, expect CVARS like TimeouttoSpec to be funky untill we manually fix them. |
