Classes Starting up again -Virtue- Dec 04 05:20pm -10 comments-
Class cleanup week officially ended yesterday.
You may now start enrolling and attending the new Classes listed on the Classes page.

Just a few reminders about Classes;
  • If you enroll for a Class, please make the effort to actually show up. If you find that you cannot make a Class after you have enrolled, please remove yourself from the class roster to allow another Student to take your place.

  • Please show up to your Classes on time, if not - a little earlier. Lateness of more than 10 minutes to any class will no longer be tolerated.

  • Do not come to Classes if you know that you are going to be afk for longer than 5 minutes at any given time.

  • Please make an effort to be respectfull in the Classes you choose to attend, do not hinder the learning of others and do not cause disruptions. Including;
      - Turning your Lightsaber on and off alot.
      - Running and/or jumping around unless told otherwise.
      - Talking to people when Class has started.
      - Shouting things out when the Class has started (unless you are asked something by your Instructor).

  • These are the very basics of Class rules, anything else is really just common sense - If you know it's going to upset someone, then don't do it.
Should you break any of these rules, you will be kicked from the Classes Server. If you attempt to rejoin the Server after you have been kicked while the Class is still in session, you will be banned from the Classes Server until furthar notice.

Enroll for your Classes, have fun, be respectful and everyone will get what they want out of it.

    Happy learning, everyone. :)

Current Server Situation -Orion- Dec 01 03:47am -22 comments-
So as some of you have noticed the damage and blocking systems have seen some changes over the past few days. That reason being, as some of you know the damages have always been an issue since JK:JA was released. The short and sweet answer to this, is majority of mod developers used Free tools that are widely avaiable to linux user to make the files. While Raven used a different tool to make the files for the linux JK:JA.

So with that said, I have now compiled JAR using those tools that Raven used. Virtue and Luke Skywalker have both tested the MOD and have given their approval that these settings are BaseJK, which is what JAR is suppost to be. Wireplay is fine, but Home and Classes have to be a bit tweaked, as they do not run Linux nativly, they run the linux files through a compatibility layer which we must set the damage scale to .55 to get it at basejk.

I apologize for having you guys play with wacky damages for so long, but I wanted to fix this issue once and for all. On that note, JAR 1.4 should be release in about a week.

Next, we should all jump for joy, as the lovable Leif returns to the rank of Jedi Instructor. Welcome back Leifeh!

So now you guys have two profiles to spam, go go go!!

Class cleanup week -doobie- Nov 29 12:46am -5 comments-
This week we're running our regular class cleanup week. That means, for the next week, no classes will be running as the JAKs, JATs, and JACs (well, Virtue) clean up the classes list and do some reorganizing. Starting a week from tomorrow, we'll have brand new classes with better descriptions, new times, and more options for you to choose from.

And if you're just coming here after reading about us from the PC Gamer UK article, welcome! Take this week to join IRC, read our rules and how the Academy works, chat on the forums, and get to know everyone!

Server Cleanup -Virtue- Nov 26 01:06am -10 comments-
I have been doing some cleaning in both our Servers base folders and the cfgs. I have fixed quite a few Server gameplay bugs.
I have basically wiped the CFGs clean and rebuilt them using the basejka default settings.
All should now be as it should be.

Also, all Server Passwords and login Passwords have been changed, you will need to check out the Servers page to retrieve the new Server info.

    Carry on - and enjoy!

    TIT3 Champion! -doobie- Nov 25 08:55pm -17 comments-
After some GREAT duels earlier today against Squibit, I am pleased to announce that Sfire has won the 2004 Thanksgiving Invitational Tournament and the scale hilt replica! The Academy should be proud of both, they've shown how great the Academy is! Congrats to both of you!

    TIT3 Finals! -doobie- Nov 25 12:06am -12 comments-
On a brighter note, the TIT3 finals are here, and right on time too! I've recieved word from my homegirl Smilykrazy that Squibit (he of PC Gamer UK article fame) and Sfire have reached the finals and will battle mano a mano to the death for the treasured (mini) hilt! Hopefully they'll let us know when the match is scheduled for so we can post the time here and get lots of people to watch!

    NEWS FLASH!!!

THIS JUST IN! Sfire informs me that he and Squibit will (hopefully) engage in Mortal Kombat Thursday, November 25, 2004 (that's today) at noon PST, which is GMT -8, so all you non-americans get to watch during primetime! Be there on the Home server (and then on the Wireplay server, to make it fair) or be orion (even worse than being square!)

TIT3 Team Cup CANCELLED and Singles Cup prize info -doobie- Nov 22 05:56pm -29 comments-
The Team Cup has been cancelled due to a severe lack of participation. In the future, if you're going to sign up for a tournament and have people invest the amount of time they've invested setting up these tournaments, make sure you're committed to actually playing. The Singles Cup is only barely having enough participation to make it worthwhile, and to be honest we're all a little frustrated by it, so that means no tournaments for a while.

Along the same lines, we've downgraded the singles cup prizes from the full size Replica FX hilts to the .45 scale ones you can find on starwars.com. This has been done because of two things: 1, the full size hilts recently went up in price to a point that we simply couldn't afford, and 2, there has been some unfair doings in the tournament that led us to decide, no matter the point, that we simply cannot stand behind our VERY generous original offer.

This is a heads up to everyone. We have a sense of honor and duty at the Academy. We have staff members who work very very hard to try and make this place as fun as possible, whether it's running tournaments, teaching classes, or just being around. When people start to abuse that hard work and abuse the code of honor, we all start feeling like we're being used. This will NOT continue. If we notice people doing things they shouldn't be doing, we will remove you from the Academy. If it becomes a widespread issue, to the point that we can't handle it... well we'll make it very clear that this is a volunteer place and we'll simply end our volunteering and go home. No one wants us to do that. There's a level of decency and respect. If you say you're going to do something, be it sign up for a class, a tournament, meet a friend, unless you have a REALLY good reason to break that promies, you should be there. Otherwise you're just pissing all over your friends here. It's not about committing your life to the Academy. It's about stepping up and doing your part to keep us great and to keep trust amongst the students. I expect better out of you all.

A word from your local sports team... -Virtue- Nov 16 12:51pm -15 comments-
Jaiko D'Kana has recently announced that due to technical difficulties and scheduling conflicts, he will no longer be able to captain the Jedi Academy Aurochs. At the same time, he has decided to pass on the baton to Janus.
When I spoke with Janus, he was extremely hyped about this, and has great hopes and ideas for the Aurochs. Tryouts for the new roster will begin soon!
Good luck to you Janus, we can already see great things coming from you!
