I started playing this genre with JK3. I've had people suggest that I play Outcast, and my curiousity gave in, so I started from the beginning. My friend had the original Dark Forces and having watched most of that, I deemed my memory sufficient enough to want to skip that title. So I started with DF2/JK w/the Sith missions. It didn't run ideal, nor were the graphics stellar, but I played it through. Interesting stuff...the most different of them all I'd say. The sabering was very rudimentary and unwieldy I might add. However, the skill was still essentially based on timing. I thought the real life video was kind of cool. The slain/ghost jedi was somewhat interesting. Adding Mara Jade was also kind of neat. The bad guys however, were pretty cheesy, regardless of the graphics. I moved up the ladder to Outcast. I played the game through and was very pleased. Very true to Star Wars themes. The story was good and I appreciated seeing the Jedi Temple...things here at the JA now make visually more sense to me. I feel that this game was way tougher than JK3 in terms of the single player game. I have played JK3 through twice on the toughest setting without too much trouble. This game wasn't near as easy. The beginning missions without the saber were particularly rough. The Nar Shadaa levels with all the Rodian snipers made me turn on "god" mode. After aquired the saber, I was much easier to kick butt. The reborns (sithspit ![]() Lando was a wimp of a fighter, but was a nice cameo and it was cool to hear Billy Dee as the voice actor ![]() ![]() The boss at the end I had to use "god" mode to kill. If anyone here has done it without doing so, please let me know how you did it. I didn't have use of absorb, so it was a tough assignment. Overall, the game was very good, I would have liked to have seen some information on the Mara character, as a follow-up from JK1. In comparison of the single person game, I liked JK3 much better. It has more diverse enemies, geographies, and missions. You can also pilot an occasional vehicle, something that would have proved very advantageous in Outcast. In favor of Outcast, I'd say its a tougher play and the dark jedi are a bit better. Regardless, I am happy to have played them all now and hopefully they'll come out with another title. -Ian _______________ Member #7625 | Since 7.6.04 The Archives This post was edited by Ian Jandos on Sep 05 2005 10:12pm. |

Quote: Plus, he's probably the biggest force whore there is, his powers seem way beyond what you have, even on full force powers. So yea, just a few axes and he should be dead. That's closer to the truth than you might know... according to the JK2 and JKA source code, NPCs defined as CLASS_DESANN, CLASS_LUKE, and CLASS_YODA (not that any NPCs of CLASS_YODA exist in the actual games o_O) have hardcoded uber-hax0red unblockable Push and Pull. I think Desann's Lightning was modded in this way too. And of course NPCs have effectively unlimited force (not sure how it works, I think it keeps track of how much they have but doesn't worry about whether they've run out or not ![]() And I must say that my favorite way of beating him is to drop the pillar on him. I agree with most of your points but I felt the level design was far better than either Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy. The level design alone makes me prefer JK1's single player of the three. _______________ © |
