I stepped out of my house into the mindless confusion that paved the streets of my hometown. My head was filled with confusing thoughts about this divine pattern. Was it a metaphore of life? Or was it just a seemingly timeless euphemism of the being most of us could call God? As I walked down the street, with a burden of fears upon my soul, I noticed the dawning light of the sun reflecting itself on the windows of stores that I walked past. This light, with its multitude of colours as if filtered through a spectrum, deluded me into thinking that secularity and celestiality could co-exist. I marvelled upon this inventive contemplation up to such extent, that I happened to step upon a fresh specimen of canine stercus. The feeling I identified was not a familiar one. I grasped my ankle, and for a few desperate moments, felt myself to be a lonely agent, swimming in the fathoms of the universe. What is right, what is wrong? This is the question that maintains the credibility of scholars and philosophers alike. As I meditate on this subject, I stand on the shoulders of giants, looking upon the conquered west as Alexander the Great once looked upon the land we know now as Europe. Even his mentor, the famous Grecian philosopher, could not put this warlord down. His views of the world, unrivalled in intricacy, contained a plethora of expressions that only the gods could define. Alexander the Great, the young conqueror, who with his wit and cunning conquered first the hearts of his army, and only later his enemies, could not be challenge with a show of force. His mastery lay in his brain, and in that of his mentor. And this feeling I had as I looked down the cold and foreboding main street of Dublin in August: A feeling of might, a feeling that even I could conquer the hearts of everyday townsfolk. As I write this, sitting in my comfy room, with a cup of coffee, I can't help but reminisce on what my life used to be. A plethora of wild images surface in my mind. I hope that one day I can walk down this street without the constant fear of being disregarded or excluded from the community.
