So I spent the last few hours wondering what exactly WinXP SP2 had done to my computer and thanking the powers that be for letting Roxio still work (had a few unburned ISO's lying around  ). Then I reinstalled Windows. Turns out SP2 fixes some bugs in Services so that services that are supposed to run as "Local Service" or "Network Service" do so instead of as "Local System". I, being security obsessed , had previously changed security settings for C: so that access was restricted to my username and Local System. Giving read access to Local Service and Network service would have fixed my troubles had I done it a few hours earlier. Whose fault is it: mine or M$'s? _______________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

FreeBSD by default creates its home directories in /usr/home and symlinks /home for all the linux n00bs. If you got nothing better to do you can redo the system and create a partition just for /usr/home. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |
