Allthought whole army system is a pain in the arse... Even if army's principles goes against my principles, I'm still a private at the finnish defence forces... Shouldn't be too difficult considoring that it's official artwork. 
But, to answer your question, yeah I guess, of the third game anyway, havent played the others, think the backstory one gets in the third is enough. Besides, since the graphics in Gothic3 are so nice, I wouldnt want to backtrack to older gfx just to get the story, hehe.
