I was browsing the forums earlier and I came across this thread about a new map by Kalheka. I tried it out and discovered that it's pretty freaking sweet, and Damon Belouve, Kalheka's self-proclaimed agent, says version 2 is even better. Here's hoping that Kal decides to add a little more variety to the rooms on the second floor (*wink wink nudge nudge*). But until then you can try the map out here. I'm not sure about getting it into the map rotation, the server stuff is for Huxley and DJ to figure out, but I for one thing it's a sweet map. Good work Kal! |

I'd like to congratulate our newest Knight, Arcuss!
Also, Jacen Solo has a big annoucement about his classes: Good afternoon lady's and germs. I will be out of town (on a work related trip) for the present week so my classes will be off. I will keep dropping by the forums and Irc with my office laptop. Also, when I come back I will be doing my seasonal change of class content and schedules. This will be my new schedule: Monday 9:00 - 10:00 PM GMT - Home Training For those of you that don't remember this class, we will work on some common training exercises used to improve your skills while your train by your self or with a partner. I will concentrate on the demonstration and theory of the exercises, therefore we wont loose time on specific moves. For example, I wont teach how to perform combos but how to practice combo accuracy and timing. Although this is a class for every rank, expect some advanced moves. Don't worry if you cant perform them, concentrate on learning the practice theory. You will learn on how to master them on the specific classes. Thursday 9:00 - 10:00 PM GMT - The way of the saber This class is meant for all Initiates and Learners but J-Mans are also welcome. As you know although every stance obeys to the same fundamentals there are different sets of rules to each one that makes them unique. We will concentrate on the use of these specific rules on duel situations, combos and counters. Regarding class helpers for these 2 classes, I will try to use Knights as much as possible but if none is available I will pick someone on the spot and I will use someone different every time. Friday 11:00 - 12:00 PM GMT - Knights Class Yes it's true, even if you are a Knight you are entitled to some classes. 
Like the 1st course created to the 1st batch of knights, this won't be exactly a class. It will be more like a workshop where we will talk about what is or what it should be your job as a Knight and about the problems that you might encounter on the servers and possible solutions. Our prime goal will be getting you guys some background on how to teach and handle things on the Academy. As I'm not master of all knowledge instead of forcing you my way of working I will share with you some of my ideas and methods of organizing classes, picking up class materials, handling trouble situations etc. I will also ask other teachers and council members to drop by and do the same. Again this class is meant for the Knights that haven't attended the last course, although I might be asking them to drop by and share a bit of their experience as knights. I will do 30 minutes of trials after each class, witch means 1 J-Man trial or up to 6 learner trials. I won't be taking a Padawan in the near future, instead I will go back to my old system of random private teaching, meaning that if you find me hanging out on a server feel free to request some private tutoring.

I know there have been a few patches since the game came out, but apparently there's a growing number of 1.02 players out there. I recently met up with V-tecc online who pointed me to the 1.02 online community he's helping to maintain. They have their own clan league and you guessed it... a 1.02 Jedi Academy.

Our benevolent dictator, massadoobie, has finished getting our PayPal account set up. While donations are definately not required, we need the support from the community to be able to purchase things like game servers and tournament prizes. There's a new link in the menu on the left to donate money to us. Any contribution you can provide is hugely hugely appreciated. Our store will be coming soon.
Doobie here to explain a few things... The Paypal account requires EITHER a credit card or a checking account. To use either of them you have to get them verified, which takes a little time (and with the checking account, requires you to looks for a couple small donations... you get like 50 cents out of this ). Also, you get $5 for signing up, so you can either send that to us too or use it at will. Oh, and Paypal accepts more than just US Dollars, they also accept Japanese Yen, Pounds Sterling, Euros, and a few others, that just get converted into dollars. So feel free to keep your national (or European) heritage and pay with your own currency!
As DJ said, we'll be using these donations to purchase a server that DJ can get colo'd and can also possibly run as a web server. Once we do that all extra cash will either be for tournament prizes or an extra server if we need one. Thanks to everyone who is planning on donating, and even if you aren't, thanks anyway! |

I'm sure most of you are checking your address bars to make sure you're at the right site. Yes this is still the Academy site. Waaay back in June when the PHP based site was created we were under a real time crunch to officially open so I kind of threw a site together with a few screenshots. I was never really satisfied with it, and wanted the site to have a more "modern" and "academy" feel to it. This is what I came up with. I hope ya'll like it. I think I've covered all tracks of the old site, but if you see anything wrong with the new design (images out of place, broken url's, etc) please let me know.
I need to give credit where due credit is due. The Logo in the top left was made by Nightcrawler, who is working on a slightly different version that will go on all of our store merchandise. Yes you too can finally own JA boxer shorts. The image hiding in the menu is the Knight Insignia made by Ulic Belouve (recolored by yours truly though).
Neato site tricks: Each time the page loads one of 7 random screenshots will load in the title image. Fancy, eh? If you have a particurlarly cool screenshot that has an "academy" feel to it send it my way. If I can work it into the design I'll add it to the store of random loaded title images. I hope you enjoy the change. Keep practicing and have fun! |

JJ and myself were talking on MSN, after I sent him a Helms Deep map in beta, and he suggested that he'd hold a class on it. The rules would be 7 vs 7 (or however many the server could hold) with one team on the castle, one on the ground trying to invade. The castle includes a destroyable mid section etc. The map is not yet available, but I'd appreiciate it if you'd leave your comments about this idea and if you'd wanna get involved...

Well, looks like I missed one hell of a meeting! I did have my one contribution though, and I'd like to release it to the Academy as a whole. I typed this policy sheet up yesterday and gave it to DJ to approve (so basically this is from both of us) and had him release it at the meeting. It basically clarifies the administrative positions in the Academy and what their roles are. I hope you all find it somewhat helpful. |
