Odan-Wei brought me this ideai for another try at an Euro JA Meeting. Please give him some feedback. A message to all (European) JA members ! Greetings all, I have been discussing the possibility to organize a RL meeting in Europe for the JA members. So far, the best time to do that seems to be around early July. As I think the idea is great, I wanted to make you all know that we could organize something for everyone who could come. But we also need to agree on an approximate date and the definitive place to meet. Paris is fine for me of course since I live there  But I also think France in general is a good place to meet since it's at the crossroads for most European members.It's not too far for our beloved dutchies and austrian people and Jacen Solo would even be willing to come, the poor boy never saw Paris For our overseas members, I can only say you're also welcome but Iknow the trip is costly. Anyway, this is just a proposal, and I'm hoping to get your opinions and suggestions on this in order to organize this thing for real. Friendly, Odan-Wei |

One lucky guy or girl out there is running Outlook, no virus scanner, and has quite a few JA members in their address book. We're recieving a plethora of virii in our email lately, and it's driuving us nuts! So here's a friendly reminder to patch your Operating Systems! The concept of sissy web browsers is extended to sissy mail clients. Please get a virus scanner, patch your OS, and use a real man's email client. Failure to do so will result in you being shunned by the rest of the Internet. Thanks! |

It seems that this has gotten to the state where a News post has to be made, and I'm really not happy about it. I for one have noticed that behavior of the Students, and even the JAK+ sometimes have gotten slightly out of hand in Classes recently. Screwing around, not listening, treating everything as a joke, running around, swinging Lightsabers or firing Weapons at the wrong times etc. I'm going to try to make this clear to all of you now. Classes held Officially by the Academy and it's Instructors are not to be made fun of. Sure, it's okay to make friends and have a laugh, we're a community after all, but when you enroll in a Class, you need to be respectful, quiet and pay attention. If you don't like the Class, leave, I'm sure you won't be missed. I have spoken to Buzz and a few others about this and we have had words with alot of the JAK+ to be alot more strict during Class now. If you act up, you get kicked, if you rejoin after you get kicked, you get kickbanned. Now, if you are in a Class to learn, you must do just that, pay attention and learn. Only do something when an Instructor tells you to (I.E. Turn on your Lightsaber, Shoot a Gun, Run around etc.). All other times you should be sitting down and listening. If an Instructor is talking, it can get very difficult for others that are trying to read what He/She is saying if people are constantly talking or spamming their "LOL" binds. So as I said, just sit down and pay attention. If you have a Question, just let the Instructor know and He/She will get around to answering it when they have finished giving advice about the current subject. Wheather you have Enrolled for a Class or not, please try to show up either 10 minutes before the Class starts, or 10 minutes after. Any later than that, then please don't join at all as it'll take the Teacher some time to explain to you what has been going on and what you should be doing. Classes are held for your benefit, so making a mockery of them is both disrespectful to the Instructor, and disrespectful and unfair to those who are actually there to learn. This was made clear in the Rules, and it makes me slightly angry that it has to be addressed in a News post aswell. I'm sure Hardwired and FiZZ wouldn't take kindly to the fact that many of you have complete disreguard for the time and effort they have put into writing out our Rules aswell. Please bare this in mind. That is all. |

Most of us Europeans had to set their clock forward 1 hour last night. The U.S hasn't yet. They will in one week. Because of this, the website times might be one hour early for you. Please don't change your GMT offset on the website. Just remember to add 1 hour to the times you see here, and wait for one week. Thanks. |

Hello everyone, Its time for you to tremble in fear. Well ok not really, not yet anyways. This here is an offer to some of our troublemakers at the academy that think they are getting away with what they are doing. I know a lot of what has been going on. So this is the deal: If you have ever done anything in violation of the rules be it using bound commands to giving out the server passwords this is your chance to come clean. You e-mail what rules you have violated and you will not be punished at all for these violations. This does not include anything you've already received a warning for however. Now if you decide not to take up this very good offer appropriate action will be taken against you(edited for wording). So this is in your best interest to come forward rather than risk being removed from the academy because as I said I know a lot. And now on the flipside for all of our quiet rule following members here at the academy. I would like you to e-mail me any instances of rule breaking you have seen. This will be completely anonymous and you will not be revealed to anyone but me that you are reporting these. I will listen to everything you have to say but providing proof will allow more immediate action. Once again this includes many things, violations on the server, racial or sexual harassment from any academy members, and even cases of admin abuse. Yes even our staff members are subject to the rules, believe it or not. This is meant to help make this place even better, and your chance to help in cleaning up the place you love to hang out. Please e-mail me here DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CONFESSIONS AND REPORTS HERE AS COMMENTS. This is meant to be anonymous. For the rule breakers looking for the clean slate you have until March 31 11:30 pm GMT -5. The clock is ticking for several of you. I suggest being smart and keep it ticking. We are a community of over 6500 members. True, "only" 1000 members are active. Still, most of the time, #jedi-academy has only around 40 or 50 people in it. So, hereby i'd like to remind you guys that IRC is great fun  Sure, you can't duel in it, but talking can be great fun too. You can see JJ's Marvin Gaye imitation and Jacen Aratan being bashed, just for an example!  IRC is a great place to get to know people, and I think it is a shame that there is only a relatively low amount of people on it. If you dont know how to use mIRC, you can take a look at the guide in the holocron. Come on, don't be afraid, and give it a shot. We know you'll like it |

Those visiting the forums may notice that all threads are marked as new. That's an unfortunate side effect of the new code that determines "new" threads. For the time bieng you'll have to click on every forum thread you see to clear that. I'll work on a "mard all as read" link on the forums, but it'll take some time.
