Taking a break -doobie- May 31 06:19pm -54 comments- |

Just wanted to let everyone know, I'm taking a break from the Academy. I'm extremely tired of all the politics all the people who make threats because of other people, all the people who don't appreciate what we do and instead get caught up in petty little crap. And no, this isn't because of one isolated instance, it's been building up for a long time. Maybe my absence will help all of you doing these things to realize THIS IS A FREAKING GAME, AND A FREAKING WEBSITE FOR A GAME. WE'RE HERE TO LEARN AND HAVE FUN, NOT GET CAUGHT UP IN PETTY TITLES, RANKS, AND ARGUMENTS!!! I'll probably be back at some point, but until then, I'm spreading "leadership" around the remaining council members, and I have faith that they'll be able to keep things running smoothly. -update from a slightly less PO'd DJ Politics are unavoidable when you have a tiered management system like we have here (knights, trainers, council, staff). I know it's going to happen, but please try to keep that kind of stuff to a bare minimum. Remember we're all here to play games and have fun. Enjoy your break, boss. Go bowling alot! |

Ladies and Gentlemen, It is my esteemed pleasure to announce that one of the "All time greats" has decided to rejoin us. Yes, that's right, Luke Skywalker has once again decided to grace us with his presence. Let's all give him a very warm welcome back to the Academy. Welcome back Master Skywalker!! |

Elder FaDed, we wish you luck... -doobie- May 21 06:03am -60 comments- |

FaDed, our esteemed colleague and friend, has just informed the Council that he has received his Mission call from the presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons, for those of you not in the know), and will be leaving us shortly. Here's what he has to say: "my dear friends, the time is come that i must bid you all farewell. as many of you know, i have been planning on going on a mission and today i recieved my mission call from the presidency of my church. here is a portion of what they wrote to me: Dear Elder Slade: You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to laber in the Tonga Nuku'alofa Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months. You should report to the Missionary Training Center at Provo, Utah on Wednesday, 28 July 2004. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Tongan language. it goes on to talk about what will be expected of me as a missionary. so yeah.. i'm going to be in Tonga for the next 2 years. knowing this, it is time for me hand in my tag and position. i came to the academy in february 2003. over the past year and half i have learned many things about myself. i have met many people and 2 of them in real life. a few of them i anticipate being friends for life. i have served amongst the JAK+ and taught many to play. i have seen and been a part of many changes that have taken place here. in short, the academy has been a huge part of my life since i joined. now, i move on to bigger and better things. this is not a sad, but happy occasion. i am excited to have the chance to serve my Lord and my God, Jesus Christ. do not fear for me for i know that he will watch over and protect me as i do his will. i will miss this place and its people dearly. May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. FaDed" FaDed, we wish you the best of luck in the upcoming years of your life. Hopefully we'll still be around when you return, but even if we're not, your friends and I will be looking forward to hearing from you from the mission field. Oh, and since I'm Mormon too, I consider it my duty to inform those of you who don't really know about the Missionary program in our church. Click here if you're interested in hearing what our goal is and how we attempt to achieve it. *gospel-sharing mode off* Sared: Faded also took some time out of his evening to give me an interview about his time here. You can find it here. |

The Terrible Twos... -doobie- May 17 01:22pm -75 comments- |

Two years ago today, a legacy was born. A legacy that would span the test of time, reaching the farthest quadrants of the known universe, uniting people of different backgrounds, faiths, languages, and shoe sizes under one roof. The legacy: The Jedi Academy. Yessirreeeee! We're TWO FREAKIN YEARS OLD TODAY! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO! Although we've been two kind of for a little while now (since DJ and I started working on the Academy with JediSith999 in mid April 2002), today marks the anniversary of when we actually opened for business and started accepting trainer applications. I can honestly say that I didn't expect to be still doing this after 2 years, and I know DJ will agree with me. I personally thought people would see us, say "meh, what a bunch of n00bs" and keep on treating each other like morons. Shows what I know! I do have to say a few thanks though. First off, thanks to Mr. DJ, who's made us have the sexiest website in the JK community by far. Also, thanks to the oldbies who are still around... Buzz, cHoSeN-OnE, Whispy, JAcen Solo, JJ, Rauc (who never plays), Aron, Mune, DB, Kueller, Eclipse, and anyone else I'm missing. I also want to give a VERY special thanks to Mr. Huxley, who graciously donated and still lets us use the fantastic servers and webspace that we take for granted today. Hux, this place would be nothing without you, we all know it, and we miss you and wish you'd come back on a full-time basis We don't really have a special prize like we did last year, but we do have the Prom coming up, and there are plans for a big tournament extravaganza, complete with REAL PRIZES, so you'll have to look out for that. Until then, stay strong, don't drink too much at the party, and, of course... VIVA LA ACADEMIA!!! |

Man, the cruelest of creatures... -Sared- May 13 07:26am -65 comments- |

May your thoughts and prayers be with the Berg familly this week. Thier eldest son, Nick Berg, a civillian contractor, was captured by Iraqi terrorrists, detained for an unknown period of time, and then beheaded. The execution was publicised and videos are trickling through the news networks. This has only brought more pain and suffering, two things the world needs a bit less of if you ask me. I can only hope that the memory of Nick can be honored properly. |

MMORPG? Free? WTF?!?!?! -Sared- May 12 03:47pm -21 comments- |

This WAS going to go into the article section but I didn't figure enough of you would notice due to the lack of attention to the article. I have been following a game in development called Guild Wars. It is being headed by the same guy who created Battle.NET (Warcraft, StarCraft, etc.). The engine is very powerful, the gameplay is supposed to be fantastic, and from May 12 through May 14, you can play it on thier E3 servers. If this two-day trial isn't enough for you to consider playing this game, take into account that there are no monthly charges. If THAT doesn't do something to convince you to play then I don't know what will. You can download the client and start playing here! |
