And that's it for another year -Virtue- Jun 23 06:25pm -24 comments-
Well, this year's Prom sure was a blast, personally, I loved every minute of it. I don't tihnk I've ever spent as much time on the Servers hopping around and enjoying myself as I did last weekend, it was awsome. :)

I hope everyone else had a whale of a time aswell.
It braught everyone together and we all had a great time dancing, chatting, playing R2D2 Soccer and just having a hell of a lot of fun.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved;

SilkMonkey; For organising it all and making sure that ultimately, everything went smoothly. For finding most of the Music tracks that we used and for generally giving me a kick in the rear to make sure the Map, Advertising and general planning of it kept on making progress.

Odan-Wei; For taking the time to make most of the textures that made the prom map unique and special. 90% of that map was textured in Odan's creations and it would not have had the same kick to it if not for him. Thank you very much Odan. :)

DJ Sith; This guy was in Chicago when the Prom was launched, but he still made time to help us out by getting the Music and Map files uploaded so that you could get them easily, putting the Map and Music files onto the Servers and optimising the Servers so that alot more of you could come and have fun. Thanks alot DJ, you pwn.

massadoobie; For taking time off of his vacation to join the Servers and help me launch it and make sure everyone was having fun. Thank you doobs, you ruleth!

And finally. I want to thank each and every one of you.
Thank you all for your support and appreciation through this. Thank you for coming along and partying with us. Thank you for making the Prom what it was - Two solid days of pure fun, hilarity, awsomeness and chicken dancing.
We could not have done this without you. :)

I know alot of you took many Screenshots and Demos this year. So, to all the people that have them, please E-Mail me some of the best shots and demos you have, and I'll sort us out with an Official Prom picture page or something.
I plan on doing this quite soon, so please, if you have any shots of the Prom, get them to me asap. :)

Once again, I thank you all.

edit: Virtue, you're dead sexeh, mr map man... three w00ts for virty! w00t w00t w00t! and a m000 on top!

First Commercial Space Flight! -Sared- Jun 22 05:48am -27 comments-
If you are viewing this site, you like Star Wars. Meaning that to some degree or another, you are a geek. You might range from uber-geek, to has-social-skills geek, but you are still a geek. Therefore, news like this interests you. :)

This HOT off the press!

SpaceShipOne, the first commercial space flight. Officials are still checking radar data to confirm the final altitude -- but unofficially, SpaceShipOne became the first privately funded rocket ship to carry a human into space Monday morning. The final stage of the flight soared approximately 62 miles high, past the "official" mile marker for the edge of space.

-NPR news

Original Story

SpaceShipOne was piloted by Mike Melvill, and the entire project was funded and completed for a little under $100,000,000 United States Dollars/$50,000,000 United Kingdom Pounds. Which is relatively cheap when put into the scope of the global economy.

Thats it. The first commercial entrance into space. Give us another thirty years until we get the final vacation plans to the moon ironed out for good. :)

Congratulations to our newest Coffe...er Knight!! -Buzz- Jun 21 05:10am -49 comments-

Server Updates -Sared- Jun 17 06:51am -23 comments-
We are in the process of cleaning up the game servers of some cluttered space and are currently going through all the current skins to see which are most used, and which are least used. If you would like to help, you post here about one of the skins that you think we should remove from the server, or you can visit JK3Files and find a skin that you think would be a good addition to the servers.

At the moment, we only have a small update, Syntax Error, which won the latest Academy skinning compeitition.

Calling all artists! -DJ Sith- Jun 17 01:37am -4 comments-
This has been going on for a while, but we're finally going to wrap up the JA logo contest. That's right. We're putting our little brand on stuff from mugs to shirts to mousepads. The proceeds from this will go into our little fund for tournament prizes and server upgrades. If you want the world to see your design and you think you can hack it then check out this forum thread. The contest is over on the 22nd, so get creative! I want to see some good designs!

The Jedi Academy Prom 2004 music pack is now available for you lovely people to download and check out.
It is 45MB in size, I apologise to those of you using 56k Modems, but this is why we're releasing the pack this early before the actual Prom, so you guys have a week to download it. :)

The file only contains the Music that will be used by the Jukebox in the Prom Map.
When you download it, unzip it and place the prom_music.pk3 into your GameData/Base folder.

Get the Music Pack here.

Updates to the Actual time the Prom will be launched will follow in another post later this week. Stay tuned. :)

The Jedi Academy Prom 2004 (Finally) -Virtue- Jun 11 08:53pm -42 comments-
Well, well, well,

We finally have things sorted out for this year's Prom.
And I am pleased to say that it will be held on the weekend of Saturday 19th June.
A specific time of launch for that Saturday will follow in a furthar News announcement this coming week.

The Prom map contains ten songs which can be played (and parteh'd to) throughout the Map. Seeing as ten songs will add up to a large download for you guys, we will be releasing the Song Pack for the Prom this week, and then releasing the actual Map on the Day of the Prom (It has a few special surprises that we want to keep from you untill the day :P ).

So, go get yourself a date and we'll hopefully see most of you at the Jedi Academy Prom 2004!

YAY!!
