Site's back! -DJ Sith- Sep 14 12:22pm -11 comments- |
|
If you can read this then that means that the new DNS has propogated off to your ISP. There are some quirks to work out though. Aurochs, I know your site isn't working yet. I'll fix it. Likewise the teamspeak server isn't up yet. Those of you who have accounts on the web server need to come see me to get your passwords reset. I think I'm going to go to sleep now. "I'll have this done in an hour or 2." Hah! UPDATE: Teamspeak is back. Working on the Aurochs site now. If you guys see anything weird going on with the site please let me know. UPDATE 2: The Aurochs site is back! |

Incoming web server outage -DJ Sith- Sep 13 04:39am -7 comments- |

I figure it's been a while since we've played DNS roulette. I'm also a glutton for punishment and have odd masochistic tendencies. That's why tomorrow night I'm taking the web server down for upgrades. During the upgrades the website, all hosted sites (this includes the Aurochs site), teamspeak server, mail, and radio server will get new IP addresses, so it'll take some time for new DNS entries to reach the far flung corners of the Internet. My apologies for the short notice. The rules of the house (the datacenter housing the box) dictate new IP's. The upgrades will give a faster server, a ton more drive space, and a bunch of nifty software upgrades that will help migrating to a new site (once I write it) to go smoother. The upgrades will take a few hours, and I'll start at 12:00 midnight CST (GMT -0600) tomorrow night. I'll stick around the IRC channel during this time to answer any questions you may have. Hooray internets! |

Hello everyone, it's your benevolent dictator here. Just wanted to say hello since I haven't been around much. I just got a new job which takes up a ton of time, and to be honest, there's not a lot of JA work that needs me at this point. As far as my status here is concerned, I don't plan on leaving, but my roles in the day to day activities of the Academy are pretty much non-existent. I consider myself somewhat of an advisor at this point (with veto power and a really really big JAC stick to swing around when I feel like it) but also consider this place my baby and wouldn't want to completely leave unless I'm the last one left and am turning off the lights. On that note... I feel we've reached a point where things are pretty much stable. We all know the JK:JA and JK2 will get old for everyone (as I know they've gotten old for a lot of us), but rest assured, we'll be here throughout it all. Hopefully we'll get a new Katarn/Jedi Knight game at some point, but even if we don't, we've set up the kind of community that transcends the games themselves (and ya never know, maybe we'll support other games some day, or even become a Pokemon Academy or something. Whatever you want We love to get ideas though, so if you want to use the comments on this thread to give us some sweet ideas and ways to spark the community, feel free. But as we move into old age (and yeah, we're old as far as communities like this come, and we even had our mid-life crisis when we reorganized!), we'll still continue to support and thrive whoever wants to hang out with us, learn how to be better gamers and people, and kick it old school like we do. Werd. Viva La Academia! |

UPDATED: Another JAC Q&A Session -Virtue- Jul 05 06:53pm -7 comments- |
|
The last one seemed to go pretty well, but we've gotten to the stage again where things seem to be going a little bumpy. There has been alot of discussions/debaits arguments over things such as exploits (what are they? And what is the JA's stance on them?), the mod being in it's current state, people breaking the rules etc. We've had alot of cases recently where people will simply try to push their luck with the ranked members, either to simply see how far they can go, find loopholes in the Rules, or even to openly question authority here at the JA thinking that it is their right to do so. Many, many things will be straightened out in this Q&A session and it will all be based around the questions that you ask and the input that you give. Since the last JAC Q&A Session, things have started to unfold nicely, the staff purge is over and the ranks are building back up again. I'm sure you will all have questions about things such as the mod, exploiting, the rules, JAK+ responsibility, how to become a Jedi Knight, this year's JA prom, the_academy_v3 and basically anything that revolves around the JA. If it's important or not, you ask it and we'll answer it. The Q&A Session will be held; Saturday 9th July at 6:00 pm GMT in the main #jedi-academy IRC channel. It's not mandatory that you attend and a session transcript WILL be posted up afterwards in case you miss it. However it will benefit you if you do attend, so if you can, please try to be there. EDIT: Here's the log of the Q&A session. Thank you to all who showed up and asked their questions. |
