...because the Jedi Academy has magically stopped being a training thing and moved onto a community with no training whatsoever. Was the Jedi Academy made for IRC? I didn't think so. The Jedi Academy was MAINLY made so that the people could train so they could own other people at Public Servers.. in other words.. increase JK2/JK:JA skills. So, Huxley was at the server today. One part of why he left was... nevermind.. he wants to keep that secret-ish. But the other part was because the JACs ignored all of his suggestions. And now I'm upset at the JACs. All you JACs know this story. Let me tell it again. A long time ago in the ancient oldbie days, I was hanging out with Silent Whispy at DJ's Server (wee!) Eventually I persuaded Whispy about this... either that or she was too freaked out about how I blackmailed her to show everybody the high-definition photograph of her picking her nose and sticking her tongue out. (Not really.) Anyway, I was about to become a roleplaying teacher! You better watch out Yun! WHISPY: I'll BRB. In the meantime, plan how your classes will be.  LIANIOTTE: Wee! So I was all... ready... and stuff. Preparing how everything will start out, anxiously waiting for Whispy's return. She never came back. To this day I'm not entirely happy with myself trusting Whisper. Anger. Fury. Irritation. Humiliation. Well cross out Anger and Fury, but I was definately irritated and humiliated... and DEFINATELY let down. I thought that the JACs were the most trustworthy people around. Besides, she could have even joined the server and said "Sorry but you can't be a JAT anymore" if that's the case, instead of ditching me entirely. So, what's my point? The JACs should stop only being on IRC, but joining both games' servers. Now I'm upset at the Jedi Academy. The Jedi Academy wasn't meant to be a huge IRC station, but a training place with teachers.. well, teaching. Maybe we should get JATs who can teach more interesting things, so we don't have to relearn things we've learned thousands of times. DJ, whatever happened with you talking about the JAStaff thing so I can host roleplaying stuff? DJ, you're the one that made this site, and you've been a good "friend" to me, so I'm not directly mad at YOU. I'm just mad in general. (Not.. crazy.) I am aware of the people that are going to reply to this saying THEIR opinion.. And stuff. *claps* hbit it right on the frikin nose jj Well, I more or less agree with Lianiotte... but, to be honest, I don't think it's really the place of someone who has been inactive for a couple of months, for the SECOND time, to leave a nice long post on the forums about how the JA is mis-managed, or whatever. Don't get me wrong here, I think Lian's got some pretty valid points, but I think maybe we all need to see things from both sides. Lian i understand ur points but u havent been artound much so i think u should back off a bit |

Alright, let's get some things straight. 1) I appreciate your responses, DJ, Doobie 2) You think the whole of the reason of why I left the JA is because I was getting MARRIED? No no no no. That's half. The other half is because the Jedi Academy started going down the poopster (caring more about IRC than the true purpose of the JA) Now let's take care of Jell-O... 3) Jello's not my neighbor, as I stated a loooooong time ago 4) I didn't bother looking at all the stuff Jell-O said because every time I show up on something he flames me for no apparent reason. 5) If we didn't care for RP teachers, why would we have needed Yun and HIS RP classes? 6) I come back to the Jedi Academy and state what I've been knowing for a loooooooooooooooong time. I've been looking through the Jedi Academy a lot more than anybody knows— and that goes for ALL of you. 7) WTF did I do to you? Every line I type lowers your IQ? Im glad you started this topic up again Lian . Well this it what i think of the status of the academy as of now. WE have an amzaing student body bout 5000. But Our abovly ranked friends are only about 30 so. I therefore think we should get Trials for the people that have been patient enthustatic helping multiple people, calm, skillfullm nad honest which all our JAT and JAKS are atm. But simply there is not enough of them. As for classes this has been a major issue ive been around for a good year now alot of the classes have been the same thign over and over. I mean the classes are very good but to keep repeating isnt as bad thing such as. When Hux did his old school saber class i did it everytime till i thought i had mastered it enough to its full potential sometimes doing the same class over and over is a good thing but ne things arent soo bad as well. As for IRC sure there liek 50 or so people on but i think flash pointed out alot of them are sleeping eating or playing other video games. I dont think we will ever become a IRC community since we have so many dedicated people rather workin on there skills and trying to become better. But as far as i see it the academy is my home to friends that i consider my brother and sisters and that im always willing to help out. The feeling when i play and help someone is soo great to me and when being taught something knew i practice and practice it.I also must add ever since i joined the academy my person in real life has changed dramitically i use to argue and yell back at my parents. now i have found myself to be very calm and nice to them by applying the same image i do in teh academy as a calm and nice guy.So i think the JAC's the JAT's and the JAK's having been doing a wonderfull job in the academy since i joined and still are keep it up guys.I also must add ever since i joined the academy my person in real life has changed dramitically i use to argue and yell back at my parents. now i have found myself to be very calm and nice to them by applying the same image i do in teh academy as a calm and nice guy. _______________ |

Here's the thing, most of the JAC are on mirc for the specific purpose of helping us. Newbies who need to be approved can go in their, contact a JAC and get acitivated within minutes (Thanks C1, you did that for when when I was newbie). Also, it provides us a quick way to contact them ourselves. Additionally, many of the JAC isn't always home or has enough free time to be in the servers. It's easiest for them and they can spend the most time in irc (wihtout needing a beefy computer to talk to us). Anyways, that's why we got JAK. Jak patrol the servers, keep order, etc. Now here's the major thing. If a person says they'll brb, they should do that. But every one has real life to deal with and something can happen that prevents them from doing so. Be understanding. Also take this in to consideration when they don't always answer questions or take your advice. This is a place for fun and learning, yes it's nice to improve your JK skills while you're at it but keep in mind that this is just a game and we are just people. _______________ I must not fear . I’m new, and I have to say all the things you have said, I haven’t seen. I and learned loads in my 2 weeks here, I talked to DJ and yes even on a server (he let me lame him). And I go to all Luke’s classes and I don’t find them boring at all. But a role playing class would be pwnage. But more jak/t/c's I do think are needed. But I think the JAC’s are doing a very good job considering all the pressures they are under. Look at chosen one I think he got that mod done pretty quickly! Since the source codes where only released about 3-6 days ago but that’s just an ‘n00b’ talking so… _______________ IN UR FACE I'M NOT BLONDE! |

Holy Crap, how do you guys write so much?? Well, anyway. I'm an oldbie, so I think I had better give my point of view here. I think that Lian is right, and that a few too many ppl are just replying with "shes a bitch/is bitching" Doobie, we have got away from our goals. It is sad to see that we had such a lovely community of regulars and now most of them have left (  Aeth) and now our classes are a touch repetitive. We should have a number of Different new teachers here, as everything is dueling!!! We must have at least 2 for every stance, and 3 for dueling in general! It's a wee bit ridiculous. We need guns training, anti-guns training, RPG training, even acrobatics training! EVERYTHING! Flight Training even. You should put out a call for people who think they can handle these classes. I personally am on the servers a lot more often, and would be happy to help out with anti-guns training, to give people more of a variety (end of plug LOL  ) but seriously, the JA has just become so......so.....predictable!Something needs to be done. hmm, points are good and points are taken but managing everything has to be done as well. If Councillors stop being on IRC it could go crazy there. But they should indeed spend some more time on servers, I think its a matter of finding the right balance between them (but ill say no more since I havent been here that long and do not know about everything that goes on here) _______________ ~ Honor is a fool's prize. Everyone here that posted has good, even great, points. I have seen many oldbies go because of school, or work. My own master Katan, had to leave for awhile because of school. But if you guys do need any help, I'm here for the Academy, I am here at my house most of the day, and, well, have played JKII since the way beggining. I know i'm probably repeating someone but; A new Jedi Knight game comes out, suddenly we have all these people who were inactive suddenly pop up wanting to play. Then they bitch about there not being enough classes for the game, they can't expect it to be that easy. Not all the JAK/T/C have JKA, take DJ for example, He's got a shitty Mac, he can't play games , and those of the JAK/T/C that have it need time to get a feel of the game if they haven't already.Then there's the Class Trials, c'mon the JAK/T can't just magically have the best abilities at the game, so they need to practice alot to get their skills up to take classes which benefit YOU, i think that's pretty decent of them. Summing it all up you just should be grateful that this community exists, and that you have the privelige to take part in the features of it. I think we need a better system of telling active users, because im sure there can't be more than 500 really active users, and maybe 1000 kinda active people. 1. Would we really nead a JAT just for RP? I think not. 2. You leave the JA, come back, and then whine. Basically what JJ said. 3. The transition to JK3... well, since it was a new game, the JAK/T/C were just as good as it as everyone else when it came out. So what was there to teach? Thats why we had the month period of no classes so they could learn and prepare to teach. 4. An IRC community? Right now I see 53 users in the channel. From the time I joined 8 different people have spoken. I'd say 8/53 is a good average for active people in the channel. So, you take 8 and compare it to the.... 400 (guessing) or so ACTIVE members we have? thats 2% in my world (after much debate on IRC, lol to those of you who were there). I'd say youd have to have a majority of the members on IRC for it to be an 'IRC Community' (thats >50% for you Lian). So all I have to say there is... WTF. I'm done blabbering. One more thing: "Deleting this topic will prove you cant handle this sort of thing"? I just think it proves were sick of your bitching. What gives you the right to go inactive for a few months, come back, and bitch us out again? Is it all the JACs fault the academy didnt become what YOU wanted it to be? I left the JA and joined a clan some time back but when their council system failed and great ideas were being ignored I came back here on the grounds that the JA was the only place that listened to it's members and changed. There is still plenty of evidence that the council listens and changes but I think some people aren't being entrusted as well as they deserve. As far as growth goes I see potential on many platforms. Aphex has started a FFA team that will play against clans and from my own experience when you whoop a clans butt they become very interested in who you are and where you come from. I think we'll get allot of people joining us from clans because clans are nothing more than a place for experienced people to show off their skills but wouldn't want someone else to pick them up. Let's face it! Working in the U.S. is tough now-a-days especially for a collage student. Low end jobs aren't paying what they used to and they are getting hard to come by. I wish things could go back the way they were in 1999 but that's likely not to happen for another year or more. Maybe the JA could start looking into supporting itself on a grander scale. Why not start looking into renting clan servers or Forum servers? We have people with the know how and I don't think it's all that far fetched of an idea. The JA could be a non-profit organization. There isn't a reason why we couldn't find a way to free up a JACs time more. BTW: I'd like Hux to come back to us more than anything. Sure he was strange and suspicious of innocent people but he was cute. Yes Lian is a lamer and has a strange sense of humor and despite hating those qualities in her I also loved them. Could she be trusted? Erm…I don't know! Lian's just Lian, another one of those people you just can't help but listen to when she's on anther rampage. I hate to see things go astray. I get all motherly and want to help. So…What does the council want done? What do they need? Start asking trustworthy people and get to know them when you've got the time because trustworthy people aren't a dime a dozen. The JA is what you make of it. Not what others make of it. You want change, you want to train. Ask someoen to train you, ask someone to teach you or teahc someone yourself. Last time i checked JAT's aren't the only ones who can train. You want this stuff to start up, forget what you knew, unlearn everythign you have and start over. I knwo i promised not to have another padawan, then broke it for dacascos (ravencloak now). But i have been helping Jaiko and virtue a bit whenever i can. So in the server if anyone wants some help, i can do that as a friend, not as a master. The people make the academy what it is, nto just one small group within the community. Do you remember why you first joined? I did and do. Now i'm goign to repay the favor. Talking won't get anyone anywhere, there is hollowness in words. The Academy is still adjusting a bit from the coming of JK:JA. Not all JAT have done there JK:JA Class Trial yet, and I think that's one of the most important things. If they do there trials they will be allowed to teach JK:JA aswell, which imo is needed since I see a lot of posts about why there aren't any JK:JA classes. A lot of new people joined cause they wanted to learn more about JK:JA, yet if you look at the classes roster you will only find 3 or 4 classes. Further the JKII Classes List should be a bit updated by the JAT's and JAK's... face it... except for a few popular classes like Knight Trial Duels, Smily's Class and FiZZster Style ( there are some more) most of the class rosters are empty, meaning no enrollers. For Students it isn't fun if they do enroll and see noone is there except the Trainer and hearing class is cancelled cause noone showed up and I can realise it isn't very fun for JAT and JAK's to see there classes empty over and over again. If you clear the "Empty" Classes for JKII and in that time let the teacher for example do his JK:JA Trial he can start teaching that. As for inactive Council Members, I see Solo and cHoSeN-oNe on quite a lot, for the others.... well there is around 7-8 houres time difference between us so if I'm on there sleeping or at work. And the other way around when there playing. I'm possitive they are working very hard behind the scenes if they weren't this Academy would no longer exist. Such a big place can't be upholded so long if no responsibility was taken for it. The site is awesome and updated very closely... just think if someone get's promoted to JAK or JAT it's almost at the same time on the news. The servers are filled with cool mods, maps and skins, aswell as updated a lot. And lamers and people who misbehave are dealled with strictly and fast. Yet they can't do all those things, and then also play AND have a busy RL. They have to make choises aswell. Think for a sec....what would you rather have? A awesome site and servers updated good and fast or the JAC playing a lot and site and servers pushed a side a bit? And what Solo told they are working on new JAK and JAT's. And perhaps another JAC is needed, 5 JAC's for a community that has more then 5555 ( ) Members is a bit too few perhaps. |

Lian, this is a new generation! #1: You can't let things that are in the past effect you now in the present. #2: I know I may not have been there during the oldbie times, but things are defenetley different, if not, changing... This is a new generation of students (mostly). Things can only get better at this point, so do not worry. Lets put the past behind us, and keep on going. Its just like in real life, you can't stop living just because a family member died a 2 years ago. To expand upon Flash and Odan: they're right. I'm also an example of someone who teaches new guys in the basic ways of conduct and combat. I don't need a JAK tag to inform people. They often ask me, and I answer, and I've seen a lot of online friends in the JA do this succesfully. My point is: there may be more going on than you can see. |
