This is an idea originally proposed by Kilitar Dash. :)

This is mainly to gauge interest in this proposed event and not a full announcement just yet.

So we're starting to get people dinging 50 now and this is an idea with great merit:

A hunt/race to find the datacrons hidden around the world of TOR.

I'll presume anyone reading this knows what they are about, if not ask in the comments.

This hunt would require players to be high level 40s if not 50 in it's current form, however smaller hunts could be organised if it proves popular.

-Groups of upto 4 people must race around the Galaxy gathering up datacrons as fast as they can in direct competition with each other.
-Every datacron 'find' must be proven with a screenshot of the group gathered around it, as well as a visable chat timestamp.
-It is undecided whether we will have a set time limit or whether it will be the first to collect them all.
-TS is encouraged, and other social elements that could add to the event will be considered.
-There will be prizes! Currently we are thinking a load of high level crafted stuff and such for the winner, with other prizes for runners up depending on the number of entrants (groups).

Think this idea has merit? Add feedback below! And don't worry, we do plan to do normal endgame stuff too. :D

Geocaching, TJA style.

Heh, you could say it is like geocaching if you already know the coords beforehand!

I like the idea of getting a few of us together and ripping through the galaxy on a hunt or two, the more the merrier, I say.

We'll just need some beers, chocolate digestives and a story or two to tell along the way...and possibly a map, compass and some plasters for the inevitable blisters.

I wasn't going to worry about whether people knew where they are given that some members have been finding them throughout the game anyway, which would give them an advantage from the off.

Instead it would be about getting to them as fast as possible, thus speeding up proceedings.

I agree with you QG regarding the time limit, expecting even two full groups of 4 to commit to all the crons would be too much I think. As for making it a regular event, well that has always been my hope but it depends on how popular it is.

I like the idea of doing it planet by planet though, or in small clusters of groups if we want a longer 'game'. However I like the idea of people forming teams. It really isn't that hard with our current membership the way it is, and it gets easier if it becomes a series of events rather than one epic one.

Anyway, we could always allow a substitution if one group member drops out and someone else wants in.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Oh btw. you know people will just use Yoshi's youtube channel to find every datacrons in the game, tus making a race and having to prove a "find" kinda redundant.

Just organize it once every week and do a couple of planets instead of trying to do all of them. Keep doing it once a week as a guild/academy event and people can rotate based on availability/requirement.

If they missed tatooine once, they know they can do it again in 3 weeks or something if they wanna do it in a group.

Just make sure you have 1 or 2 lvl 50 sages with you to pull people up who would otherwise spend 20 minutes making some jump up to a line or pipe.

A set time limit might be better as people will know how long they need to be on and if they can do it. I dread to think how much time getting everyone in the galaxy would take in one go as some of them can involve quite a bit of time like the balloon on on Tat.
