I'm sure there are more than a few people here who read them, I was just wondering who likes what.
For the record I like: Planetry (what happened to that?:mad League of Extrordinary Gentlemen From Hell (best ever) Anything by Daniel Clowes (tho I havn't read all that much) Cerebus (I stopped reading it a while back tho, it's just too long!) Sandman Mystery Theatre (fantastic! Now sadly defunt I always like a good Batman comic, although there hasn't been too many around lately. DK2 being the exception. P.S. Feel free to let the thread waver into "wolverine could kick Batman's ass" type discussions. (For the record tho: it would be the other way around.) _______________ "Negative. I am a meat popsicle." Ash, I'll say it again, you're one lucky sob. EDIT: If you can't afford to buy comics (christ knows I can hardly manage it these days) try your local library. Thats the big place in town where they keep all the books. (lol, j/k EDIT 2: DON'T rush out and sell those comics. (ok, I know you probably won't _______________ "Negative. I am a meat popsicle." My favorite comics strips are Calvin and Hobbes, Farside, and Foxtrot. If you were to combine Calvin and Jason (from foxtrot) togther you would form me. I swear when I was growing up it was just eery how similar I was to Calvin. Creepy man, just creepy. _______________ "We keep odd hours...." ----------------------- They Live, We Sleep |

man, i used to read comics all the time back in the day. now i cant afford em and i dont really have the time to read em. so instead i just read Wizard magazine to keep up on the current comics. Really, the only comic i read right now is Ultimate Spider-man. Ive just dig it alot and enjoy reading. Been awhile since i dug a comic.
Completly off subject i just wanted to mention that in the latest wizard, i read that a man sold his Hulk #181 comic (first appearance of Wolverine) for about $19,000 on ebay. I almost craped a brick. Why? Well, not is that a great deal of money for a comic book, but also because I have that damn issue tightly sealed in plastic hanging on my bedroom wall. When I told my parents about the guy on ebay the almost stole my comic. I also have a few other comics worth at least a little bit of money. Like Ghostrider #1, #2, and #3 (not a first appearance but still the first issues). Amazing Spider-Man #122 (the death of the green goblin. since the movie the price has risen on this one) Amazing Spider-Man #129 (first appearance of The Punisher. i am totally stoked at knowing that i own this comic. i love the punisher). And I also have some others like the first appearence of Mysterio, but frankly who gives a rats ass about Mysterio. All of these comics were given to me and my brother by a clueless uncle. I dont have the heart to tell him what he did. I dont know what Im going to do with these comics. Im probably going to keep em for awhile then maybe sell em. Who knows. I just hope theres some really eger people out there on ebay. hot damn. im such a lucky bastard. _______________ "We keep odd hours...." ----------------------- They Live, We Sleep |

I like the cut of your jib, Sir!
Actually, I can think of one thing I didn't mention which you should read: "Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid On Earth" by Chris Ware. It depends on personal taste but I found it to be brillant. Be warned though, you'll probably want to hang yourself after reading it. It's incredibly depressing. _______________ "Negative. I am a meat popsicle." |

You're asking for trouble, Mistral Non superhero stuff: Hicksville and Atlas. (both by a local guy, Dylan Horrocks, who has just taken over the writing on Batgirl.) Jar of Fools and Berlin by Jason Lutes www.beecomix.com by Jason Little Superhero Stuff: Alan Moore's ABC line of comics. All of them are top notch FUN comics. TOP TEN was probably the best. It was basically Hill Street Blues with superheroes. On TOM STRONG Moore's having it both ways by writing a fun, iconic superhero with an ocassionial subversive notion or subtext thrown in. _______________ "Negative. I am a meat popsicle." Good call Mistral, how could I forget Preacher?! The more people who read this comic, the better the world will be. I like Morrison as well. Animal Man was one of the first comics I ever read seriously, and I think it's still his best work to date. The first story arc of the Invisibles rates up there too tho, and New Xmen is cool. _______________ "Negative. I am a meat popsicle." |

LOL Underhill, you beat me to it(I was thinking of posting the same topic) You have good taste in comics I read anything by Grant Morrison, Garth Ennis, Alan Moore(hippy genius), Warren Ellis, Frank Miller or Matt Wagner. I also enjoy the good superhero stuff, New X-men, Daredevil, Hulk etc. DK2 was ok but not up to the standard of the first I think. Everyone should read Preacher if they haven't already done so! |
