If you decide to have an enemy, choose a good one because enemies are a very expensive luxury. Some anonymous wit has put it this way: “If you’re nursing a grudge, expect to pay some big doctor bills.” Alas, most of the price is paid on the installment plan as little by little your grudge robs you of peace and power and makes you miserable. You can’t always help having an enemy, but you can help being an enemy. Saul considered David an enemy, but David didn’t consider Saul an enemy. David couldn’t stop Saul from the foolish things he did, but he could control his response to them. If you have an enemy eating away at your heart, it’s probably because you choose to have that enemy there. You aren’t responsible for the way other treat you, but you are responsible for the way you respond. Nice post. Exactly why I don't hold grudges. My dad told me when I was younger: "Grudges are pointless and exhausting. The person you have the grudge on most likely doesn't know. If they do, then they, along with everyone else, don't care. Your stuck holding all the anger.
