I would definately become a jedi simply due to the lack of purpose that normal life entails, the way of the jedi, in the word of a mighty warrior from another mythology, is to "protect that which matters most." Whether it be the republic, a small community, a single person, whatever they see to be most important. They do their best to protect people within the republic from those who wish to harm others. If thats not purpose i dont know what is. So the life of a jedi is exactly what im looking for, for "without purpose, we would not exist." Been looking for my "existance" for years now with no luck besides the created mythology of movies and an army which doesnt accept people with asthma, so back to sabers duels...

For fun...as long as i got mind trick im straight!...hell the pimp game would b THAT much easier, not like its not easy now

Come on now, every Generation X boy wanted to be Luke Skywalker. Is it because he was a whiney farm boy from some backwater hack planet? No, it's because he was a FREAKING JEDI. He could block lasers with his lightsaber. He could levitate droids & rocks & crap with his mind. Come on, he choked two pig dudes with just a simple gesture. He cut off Darth Vader's hand and kicked him down a flight of stairs. He got his @$$ zapped by lightning from the geezer Emperor, stood up and said "s'at all you got b!tc#??"

It seems to me that it's almost impossible to be a Jedi if you're human. We cannot fully get rid of emotions... it's impossible. Even Luke couldn't resist anger when his family was threatened; and those humans who do give up emotion, they were slain, i.e. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan. Only Windu, and even then, he's more of a guy who walks the line between good and evil, was truly a formidable foe, at least in the movies. The greatest Jedi wasn't even human; he was a short alien, and perhaps this alien race had different emotional capacities.

Either way, I'd want to be a Jedi, but truthfully, I'd probably end up a Sith. It's just too hard, IMHO, to control your emotions, unless, like the Jedi, you were completely devoid of emotion at a young age.

Oh, and I'd definetely be a Jedi Guardian. Lightsaber skills over force powers... anyday. :P

Exactly. It was fear for Padme that drove Anakin down the dark path. A Jedi needs to be devoid of emotional ties in order to focus wholly on the Force.

many people mistake one emotion for another, and sometimes become confused, such is the way many jedi turned to the sith...i guess you could use me as an example:D

Hmmm. You shouldn't disregard love. Love can be good. You can get children who are also Force sensetive...How else could the Jedi prevail? even if everything has medicloriance (sp?) they wouldn't have enough to be a full fledged jedi.
But on the downside...if they'd kill your wife and child(ren)...you'll just become one of them, IF you can't controll your emotions.

Some nice views here. :) However, Devlin's post really got me thinking! Be proud, dude! Not many people manage to do that. :P Anyways!...:D

Quote:
By nature I am a peacefull man, and while I would worry about losing my temper I would hope that a connection with the force would keep me in balance with my emotions.

However, there is the downside of this ideal...and that is that as a Jedi in the time of the Republic you are not allowed physical 'attatchments' such as a family or spouse. This in itself is enough for me to question my decision on wanting to be a jedi.

On the downside: If you're at peace with your situation, I believe you don't need a partner. With the Force as your ally, you're never alone. Besides, when you're a jedi, you're some sort of a "higher being." It's all about self-control and not giving in to your feelings, something I think I could pull off. :)

Quote:
In the New Jedi Order books the jedi are allowed to take husbands and wives. Love is not something that they frown upon. I agree with this, I believe that being in love only makes a person want to fight harder in the name of life and peace. So if we take this perspective of the life of a jedi then my decision would certainly be yes.

This seems very odd! A jedi's mind has to stay clear and focused. E.g. if you're in lethal combat with a powerful opponent, you would fear for your family's welfare and emotional well-being if you were to die, which might resolve in the use of cheap tricks and giving into the dark side. :-/

To conclude: Yes, I'd be a jedi. No, I would not be married. :)

Sounds like Jedi Sentinel is the option for you ;) That's the way I'd go too - decent abilities in all areas as opposed to master of one.

The path of the Dark Jedi is definitely the way to go.

Start off as a member of the Jedi Order, learn everything the Jedi can teach you, then turn to the Dark Side and become even more powerful.

The Jedi are blinded by their adherence to the Light Side, the Sith are weakened by only knowing the Dark. The Dark Jedi have the best of both worlds.

I'd want to be a Jedi Consular. Gather as much knowladge of the force as you can, and use it to help bring peace. Or try not to use it (Mind tricks only work on weak minds) But I would be also be interested in Jedi Guardian.
