Just for clarification: the moves that you have to preform in the trial e.g. lunge, backstab etc, are these ment to be preformed in a duel or on a willing victim ... err I mean volunteer?

Usually the teacher(s) will stand back and let you do it from a distance of 5-10ft OR they will engage in a duel where you can't injure them.
