Good idea Setemantor. Well here it is. The single saberists thread. I think a single saber pwns joo. We're so good with one saber, we don't need a second one or a double-bladed one. Stances? I really love this kind of thread :/ God, I thought we left the "Single (or staff or duals) pwns j00!" threads in the past. A thread like this is going to hurt a lot of people's feeling and definitely conflicts with about a dozen or so people's goals for the Academy. A number of really great people here have dedicated themselves to showing the ways of the less favored sabers. At one point, almost everyone was single and now we are seeing a pretty good mix of single or dual users with staff users on the rise. We need to thank guys like Janus, Motrec, Gradius, et al. for spreading the knowledge and bringing us a much more rich and well balanced game. Please, before anyone else says anymore, let's consider what an absolute waste of time a thread like this is. _______________ Gone but hopefully not forgotten... |

You can spam with all saber types. I find myself doing certain swings occasionally with Single. It's just easier to spam the Staff. However, the same goes for Staff as the Single Saber. There are many techniques with all 3. This comment was edited by Setementor on Nov 05 2004 05:50pm. |

To be honest, i call the staff a n00bstick sometimes. Not because its used only by n00bs or to mean anything offensive, but simply because when you are a complete n00b (as were all were once) often the staff uis used, esp in SP (myself included) because it looks cool and is easy to take down bots and things in SP with it. The thing about spamming, i believe, is that spamming is harder with a single saber than with a staff, especially if the players are both noobs.If 1 player has played before or practised, it is relaticely easy to punish spammers with a lunge or similar. My two cents on why the staff is often call a n00bstick. Just because its used a lot by noobs doesnt prevent someone from being good with it. EDIT: i use staff too on occasion, and im bad with it so i know how hard it is to be good with it. So, like, I'm a n00b? Darnit, why don't people tell me these things. But on a more serious note, no, staff is not a "n00bstick" used by people who just want to win fast. It's not about spamming buttons either. Scathing generalizations can be made about any saber style. I could easily say something uninformed like that about the red stance, too. There are many people who just use it in the context of swinging at the air and running away once swings are exhausted, spinning around violently hoping to hit something whenever someone gets close. But of course, there are plenty of people who have a great deal of precision with their swings and movements, and of course, those are the deadly ones. Likewise, one can "spam" with staff or duals, but that doesn't mean it'll get them anywhere. Of all the three weapons, I have to say staff is the one I find the most challenging, most notably against red. The reason they aren't in the crazy forums is cause they involve weapons used in jk3. I've posted plenty of times in the staff thread that it's merely a joke. If someone posts taking it too seriously, I'll reassure them it's a joke. We all know that neither weapon pwns another. It all depends on the person. We really should move both threads to the crazy forum...because ppl may take it serious...but as long as its here then imma take it serious... Single saber doesnt pwn anything...Staff doesnt pwn anything neither...and so doesnt Duals pwn anything... There is no "ultimate" stance... But there are things/moves/strategies which can be used even by ppl who arnt trained with the saber to actually WIN some duels...this of course has nothing to do with skill...
