Okay, so, the deal is, I was just curious as to how many people we actually have here who are active. I know that the number is somewhere around 150-200, but I'd like to get a more percise number, just out of curiosity. This includes anyone who posts on the forums, plays on the servers, and/or talks in IRC, even you Rauc! Also all JAK+, if you'll be so kind. So, please just make one post here stating that you are indeed active. PLEASE, ONLY ONE POST PER MEMBER. I'd like to use the post count as my tally. Alright, well I might was well add me into it. Don't get all freaked out about the one post deal cause this is my one post. Okay, no cmad did not ask me to do this, he simply suggested that I add a poll, which I saw to be somewhat pointles, but what the heck, why not? And to JavaGuy, well, there is no SQL script for that kind of "survey" at the time being, and also, not all active students post on the forums. They may sign into their accounts to keep them from going inactive, but I happen to know of quite a few who do not post. I've taken them into consideration as well and I'm going to add them to the tally. But yeah, that's it, I'm here. Okay, who voted "No?" A forum poll asking are you active is like asking are you awake. An admin with access to the forums database could write a little SQL script to figure out instantly how many different members have posted to the forums in the past week, month, whatever. Somebody could write a little script and put it in his crontab to poll the home server every half hour or so and keep a list of who's been on. That would be imperfect for a number of reasons. People sometimes use pseudonyms. Someone might be on for twenty minutes and be off again before the script logs him as being on. But it would give a pretty good snapshot of the JA's "active core" over a period of weeks. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |
