How did you find the Academy?

I've been seeing glimpses of stories here and there, but it would be nice to know how our fellow Academy members joined up. :)

I found the Academy when I was searching in Google for any more possible JA saber combos (I was looking for anything dealing with dual sabers). I found the Academy's Holocron number 4 on the google list. I knew what a Holocron was, so I decided this was probably the best place to look for the info I need. I was then quite amazed of everything on the site. I realized this was actually a JA Community!!! I made sure everything was still active and then decided to go on the chat. In the chat, (my name was r2d21-dont know how that one got there lol) I asked if it was ok if I joined up even though I may not be able to attend classes and play on the servers as much when school was in session.
I'm pretty sure, DJ Sith replied with "Just join up and have fun." I signed up (I remember putting in the form at the end "This place is just like the books" heh), got my confirmation in a matter of seconds heh, and I checked everything out. The next day, I played for the first time on the servers. :):alliance:
This was almost a week ago.

Tell us your story ;):alliance:

I played a lot of cs and was tired of the fact that I had to play constantly to be any good at it. Saw that my little brother played jk2 and thought that it was fun, he recommended the academy to learn how to actually hit someone with my saber:P and that's it....:D

I gave up on Counter strike a long time ago. Looking for an alternative i turned to JK2. While playing public for a while I remebered seeing somthing about the JA in jk2files once. I jumped on google and started looking.

Found it..registered and the rest is history...

Kagemusha, a (now ex-) JAS and friend of mine from school, recommended the JA to me back in February last year. I finally looked into it in March and decided to join up.

A day after applying, my application was accepted. I went onto the Home server to introduce myself. First person I spoke to was Silencio. He welcomed me, chatted to me for a while and even taught me a few of the basic moves. What a guy :). Seriously though, I was quite impressed with the friendliness of everyone.

A few days after that, Kage went onto the server with me. We hadn't been on long when he suggested going to a class (my first one). It was Luke Skywalker's medium stance class... I was amazed at that guy's 1337ness and general willingness to help. So much so, in fact, that I embarrassed myself saying so at the end of the class :D.

After 3 weeks playin and loosing to nearly anyone ive met on the pubs...i somehow managed to meet someone with a very great personality and freaked out skillz...and i beat him lol
It was pure luck (well...actually i dont have much luck...i nearly dont have any at all but this time it was kinda exception) ...he realized how young i was to this game and decided to show me the way of the saber ^^
He trained me for like 1 month and gave me a link to this place someday...(my training kept goin on of course)
I wasnt sure what this place was all about so i just stayed in the background...after a while i just wanted to see how those "classes" work...so i enrolled in one =)
Well...it kinda fascinated me how great this place actually is...so i decided to stay and be a part of it ^^

bleh...I got here somehow...

Er...I had just started playing online, and after a week or so I had already realized that I stunk, and was also kind of sick of the admin abuse on the msn zone server I was kickin it on. So I was searching like crazy for Guides when I came across one with a link to the JA...yea...that's how it went :P

I found the JA URL in the jediknightii.net links section...

BTW: we have at least another 2 threads like this one (one by me, and one by someone else). Try using this tool: http://www.thejediacademy.net/forums_search.php

Jeez, when the hell did I join up?

Oh yeah, it was a few weeks past new years, 2003 had dawned and I was looking around I think for good admin mods for my clan server. I found this one called "Jedi Academy" wich seemed like a clever facelift of AdminMod. I delved into it and came across forum threads of various Jedi schools and such, it seemed pretty interesting but most sites where either dead or hopelessly crude. That's when I stumbled upon the JA and things went pretty much like that guy with who started this thread but I can't remember his name if my life depended on it because its got lots of numbers and letters and doesn't actually form a proper word.

Doh!

Edit: Full story then :P

I had been playing the game ages and hanging around jk2files. I saw a link to this place on gamingforums. I didn't sign up until just recently though. I continued to see links to this place sometimes, and just checked around the site sometimes. Then in april 2004 when I could play Jedi Knight MP again (56k I had until then), I decided I would sign up.

So here I am! :D
