Nice dueling you. You made good use of Katas, but it'd be a better idea to use those directional swings instead, because using a Kata is like buying a ticket to death - the opponent can easily just escape from the Kata and counter it, in a way which may well get you killed. As you probably noticed, you can't move anywhere while the Kata is in duration, bringing you to a great disadvantage if you use them, 'cause if your opponent escapes, you can pretty much consider yourself dead. As for tips, try to keep a distance from your opponent. Don't stop moving though, just circle them, pressing your backwards key if you need to. Just do whatever it takes not to get hit. Then when you feel ready, start keeping a distance of about 2 squares, then when your opponent strikes, run in and hit a swing in the opposite direction to their swing (to you, it will appear to be the same direction). For example, if your opponent does a right swing, hit a left swing into their left hip, then return to your former distance of 2 squares. Do the same until the end of the battle. Just so you get what I mean, I made a picture showing this here. Remember to always keep your crosshair (the little target thingy in the center of your screen) as close to your opponent as possible. Also, if nobody is making an attack, try to make some directional swings while you're at the 2-square distance from your opponent, to lure him in, then use the counter I described above to get him, then return to having the same, 2-square distance. Swings from this distance are usually called "fake swings". |
