I didn't check /var/log/messages, but I did look at /var/log/httpd-errors... Well nothing weird in there. And the server would execute correctly If I ran "./apache.sh start" or "apachetcl start". I'm gonna reinstall FreeBSD... Now apache won't run at startup (even though there is /usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache.sh)... I don't like giving up, but unfortunately I have to.... I'll reinstall it some time tomorrow... _______________ Your friends of today, are your enemies of tomorrow. |

Hey.... The ports update finished quite quickly... I can assure you it was not a 300MB download... Maybe I did something wrong? I followed the steps in the handbook, edited the ports-supfile and then did: /usr/local/bin/cvsup -g -L 2 ports-supfile and it did output data (edit/add/delete lines, some lines with "delta"  for some mins (20 mins or so)...How do I check if it was done correctly? EDIT: Well actually if i do make install now in apache it installs a newer version; so I guess it worked _______________ Your friends of today, are your enemies of tomorrow. Hey DJ i'd be grateful if you could give me a hand with this: When I was setting up my FreeBSD server, I made a seperate partition that would be mounted as /home. Well when the setup finished, I did ls -l on /, and I saw that /home was a symbolic link to /usr/home... So the partition I made is pointless? I made a 7GB partition for just a few-bytes-sized link? EDIT: I made one 10MB file on /home/chris (my account's home directory), and then I checked the df output... Surprisingly enough, the percentage of use of /home was INCREASED I had thought that instead of the used size of /home, the used size of /usr would have increased...EDIT2: My networking problem is FIXED!!! weeee There must have been a problem with the cable on the wall that connected the box with the ethernet switch. [My box's NIC is connected to a "socket" in the wall with a cable, that socket is connected to the ethernet switch with another cable]...
