Mechanically, they're pretty much the same, so that makes sense. They have the same abilities, they're just called different things. I do believe they have a FEW different abilities though: I've not seen the Smuggler call in an air strike, but I know at some point in the leveling process, the Imperial Agent gets that ability.

Honestly, I'll probably be creating all of them. Though, I think I'm least interested in the Jedi classes. I've played the Knight as of two weeks ago, and while interesting story wise, the Sith Warrior/Inquisitor has more of a pull for me.
If you want to roll a smuggler though, I'm fine with creating a trooper. Well, that works just as well! In fact, if you roll a Smuggler, we'll be able to group up right from the start as the Smuggers and Troopers start off on the same world. But if you roll a Jedi class and I roll a Trooper, we'll have to wait until around level 10 to group up.

So then... you roll a Jedi Consular and I'll roll a Trooper? Ever since I heard that Jennifer Hale voices the female Trooper, I want to play a female Trooper just so I can hear her talk for hours on end. But, I have little interest in the class other than that... so I feel (as you have made it seem as though you'll only be playing casually) that playing my Trooper with you will make that easier for me .
