Yo L-Rod. I just read your post in the "how did you get your name" thread and I couldn't help but think how that stuff really embodied the way you trained us years ago. It's an awesome philosophy. I'll never forget when I first met you and you beat me 31-0, haha. Is that why you picked me up? Because I had a "no surrender" attitude and was willing to ask questions? Anyways, that's not so important. What's important is that I take this post to really give you thanks for the stuff you taught me. You were an amazing teacher, and there is no more proof necessary to provide than you taking four ragtag mid-level duelists and shaping them up to become some of the best, most famous duelists in the whole Jedi Academy (until JK3 came out at least) in FOUR LESSONS. Four lessons and you changed the way I dueled forever. You gave me a solid foundation for both winning attitude, losing attitude, and morale that -- coupled with the information-dense technical things you taught me -- has followed me through my years and stays with me to this very day. I know if you saw me duel you would probably scoff at my ragtag mixture of solid, technical dueling and sheer instinct fighting, but what was most important in your teachings was the attitude. You had a bullshit-free, this-is-how-it-is way of teaching things in a straightforward and easily understandable way. Coupled with the enormous technical knowledge you had, I think that puts you up there as the best teacher I could ever have hoped for. Now, generally speaking, I'm not one to follow weird fads. I've never rocked out to a "SMILY RULES!!!" or lost myself in this "d3rp" or "m00" nonsense. I feel that this is the least I can do for somebody who gave me a real gift for this game. You're the reason my name has ever been mentioned when people ask, "Who is the best duelist in the Academy?" and you're the reason I didn't turn into an egotistical asshole, or get frustrated anytime I met someone who could kick my ass and throw my game in the trash. So after over two-and-a-half years here, have these milestones: My 1,000th comment, and my everlasting gratitude. Rock on, brotha. _______________ © |
