Temporary Forums and some other stuff -doobie - Nov 27 07:51am

I'd like to direct everyone's attention to the Look At My Monkey forums. Those crazy primates have decided to put together a forum that we can use until DJ finishes the in-site forums. Everyone go check them out, they're pretty good... and vote in the poll they have too, i'm curious to see the results.

In other news, I'd like to wish ShadowSith and Muffin Man luck today in the finals of the Thanksgiving/Anniversary tournament. I won't be able to attend due to real life concerns (more on that in a minute), but I'm sure that they'll put on a sweet battle. Oh, and can I ask for a volunteer to record a demo of the proceedings? If you're interested but don't know how to do demos, ask around, some people know how :)

Also, I'll be gone (for the most part) from this afternoon until Monday night since I'll be going home from school for Thanksgiving. Who knows though, you may see me hop on DJ's server with a 0 ping (aka at his apartment).

Ok, now you can listen to what everyone says about Thanksgiving, OR, you can listen to me. Thanksgiving is a time to eat excessivley and not feel bad about it. After you have eaten excessivley you will probably need to nap, so you can do that too. The next best thing to everyone cooking and everyone else is eating is the fact that there is football on a Thursday. Usually more than one game too, and usually big games. So here is what sums up most Americanss Thanksgiving holidays. Sit with your family and grub, stuffing your face with all kinds of food. Take a nap to recover from so much eating and let the blood rush back from your stomoch and digestive system back to your brain so that it can function and you can proccess what is going on in the football world while you are watching TV. Who wouldn't like that.

By the way, who says we don't like New Year's. It's a like Thanksgiving but replace the food with alcohol and the football watching with partying. Where can you go wrong? You can't.

p.s. if you live in Canada, replace all the words football, with hockey eh.

Thanksgiving, the way the Puritans envisioned it
is a long tradition dating back to the ancient
Hebrews and their feasts of Succoth at Passover
at which they thanked God for providing for them and the earliest observance of Thanksgiving in the US was with special services in Virginia as early as 1607. The first thanksgiving festival began on December 13th in 1621 at Plymouth, Massachusetts. It started as a harvest fetival
with the people thanking god for giving them
sufficient crops. That first Thanksgiving celebration lasted 3 days with the people enthusiastically participating. By the turn of the eighteenth century, many of the colonies participated in such feasts, honoring God for his blessings with prayer, remembrance and- of course- feasting.
There you have it JA ;) the history of Thanksgiving...
How many of you knew that? :P

What would give you the impression we don't love New Years eve? :)

Thanksgiving is a holiday commemorating when the English Calvinists settled on Plymouth Rock (in Massachusets). They supposedly had a big feast with the local Indians, but I doubt that really happened. :) It's supposed to be a time where American families get together and have a big meal of turkey and cornbread and yummy stuff.

Well, I don't know, just a stupid Hollander. I think Sinterklaas rules. It's a holiday where we give each other reasonebly little presents and write little poems for all. It's the holiday where Santa came from.

I'll be leaving for a little Thanksgiving action as well! Unfortunately, my parents do not have the internet or even a computer, so I'll just have to be absent until Tuesday.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Oh well. Anyway, I think a lot of us are college students who are going home for Thanksgiving. So have a safe trip and (this goes for those of you who aren't going anywhere too) have a great Thanksgiving. Eat a lot. Its one of the few days you're allowed.

Later all. Take it easy.
