good point!
but i would like (as it says in the FAQ) the knights to wear the JAK tag so students have a chance to get some honor too  but JALs etc doesnt really need an own tag. it confuses new members _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |

I'd like to see some clarification of the rules on tags. Almost all the recent promotees are now using [JAL]. I'm still using [JAS]. Here's what the FAQ says:
"Tags are now only required for JATs, however JASs can still wear theirs if they desire (only use the tag [JAS] at the end of your name though, no [JAI] or [JAL] or [JAJ] tags)." This makes sense to me because it implies a sense of humility on the part of everyone who's still a student--no special tags until attaining the rank of Trainer or whatever. The principle outlined in the FAQ seems to be that one doesn't flaunt one's rank, especially until before having something worth flaunting. The FAQ continues: "Also, we recommend but do not require Knights to wear tags." It doesn't say _what_ tag a knight should wear. I assume [JAK], since the implications is that a Knight has graduated and is no longer a student. Even so, the [JAS] tag would still make sense to me because it suggests that we (hopefully) never stop learning. Again, the principle suggested in the FAQ seems to be that tags are functional rather than for gloating (not very Jedi-like) purposes. A JAT needs a tag simply because we need to know who's a JAT, and so on, but there's no special reason I need to know if someone's an Initiate or a Learner. If the rule has changed, I'd like to see something official about it on the web site. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |
