Whats that? a Teamspeak2 Server? -Huxley- Apr 18 01:20pm -24 comments-
Its for voice-chatting, with a microphone, or a headset, (about $15 at Radioshack)
Please click on the link below to download the free teamspeak2 client. Dont get any other verison or it probably wont work.
TeamSpeak2 Client Download

PLEASE use appropriate language at all times!

And I have left it open for everyone to create their own channels. This way teachers can have classes in a voice channel, while being on the server with the class. Because teamspeak can run in the background while you are playing jk2.
To connect to the server, you need a password. To get the password, login, and goto the servers tab and click on '[ja] Teamspeak Server'.

Enjoy!

Would the real IRC channel please stand up? -DJ Sith- Apr 18 07:50am -12 comments-
Boy were you as confused as me when everyone up and moved the IRC channel to quakenet? Shucks howdy I sure was! Apparently the masses have spoken and they say that GamesNet is the pits, while QuakeNet is stable and has much more European servers. I don't mind so long as it works best for all, and in the day or so that I've been here it seems fine. So I guess our official irc channel is now #Jedi-Academy on the QuakeNet IRC network (irc.quakenet.org). Enjoy! And my apologies for the confusion.

Double Accounts...Update. -Silent Whisper- Apr 17 04:46am -16 comments-
Some of you may of noticed that a few people are no longer around. This is because a week ago I gave an ultimatum for people with double accounts to come forward. Those that did were sparred(and I thank you that did tell me), those that didn't were banned and banned for good. The Academy rules and discipline are not to be taken advantage of. With that said may these people learn some respect and one day realize that every cheater will eventually be caught.

Oh boy what a scoop! -DJ Sith- Apr 16 11:38pm -11 comments-
Our faithful Knight Arcuss, who rules in every possible way may have gotten us the opportunity to interview the folks at Lucasarts and/or Raven Software about Jedi Academy after E3. No one should get left out of this, so read this forum thread to see what to do. Please post your questions for them at the thread, NOT this news post.

From what I know this isn't set in stone, but we have our foot in the door on this and that's the important part. :) Thanks, Arcuss, for your hard work in getting this for us!

Where did Eclipse's classes go? -DJ Sith- Apr 16 08:41pm -4 comments-
Eclipse reports he's having some technical issues at home, so his classes have been temporarily cancelled.

Welcome to the new site! -DJ Sith- Apr 16 09:04am -23 comments-
As you are hopefully aware of by now we have a new web server. While I hate to break away from jediknightii.net I think we'll get a better experience with this new server. This server was built by Huxley and is maintained by him and yours truly. Since we run the show now we can do cool things like have a workable files section, user image uploads, more game server interaction, and MUCH more. The sky's the limit.

If you're logged in click on the My Profile link. At the bottom you should see a section where you can finally upload your own profile pictures. We've added a small blurb to the rules about this. Keep your pictures clean. This is a privelage, not a right. If you upload anything unwholesome you'll get disciplined. Other than that go to town on it. :)

One other thing that I've added to this site so far is a thumbnail generator for the pages with comments. This script shrinks the profile pics (which had to be shrunk by HTML on the old site.. ghetto) to the right size, so you dialup folk can breathe a little sigh of relief. The downside to this is the thumbnail appear blurred out. I'm working on that one. This will eventually lead to a screenshots section. :)

I'm sure this change won't be without it's bumps and bruises. I can't make an exact duplicate of the site database, so some comments and forum posts may be lost during the dransition, my apologies for that. If you see anything not right with this new site please please please let me know.

Oh yeah. One more thing. No more popup ads! Goodbye, Gator! Dont let the door hit ya in the butt on the way out!

Pack your bags! -DJ Sith- Apr 16 09:55am -6 comments-
You sick of Enterthegame slowdowns and lag and whatnot? Well so am I! I've registered a channel on GamesNet and have updated the chat page connect to our new channel.

Everyone needs to point their various IRC clients toward #Jedi-Academy on irc.gamesnet.net. Gamesnet is cool in that their version of ChanServ is able to do more and keep the channel a little more secure. Their network seems ship shape to boot. For those that are unfamiliar the offical jediknightii.net channel is #jediknight on GamesNet, so feel free to get jiggy with a more than our little corner of the JO community.

Moving IRC networks can be a little disorienting. Gamesnet's provided a getting started page to make it easier to settle in.

Legolas Departs for the Grey Havens -doobie- Apr 16 01:39am -14 comments-
yeah yeah yeah, I know we announced that our good buddy Legolas was leaving us, but since I decided on the off-chance to check the Council email address, I found this in there from a few days ago. Oh, and speaking of the email address, if you sent your picture... well chances are it won't go up for a few days until we get a couple site issues *wink wink* sorted out. Anyway, here's pretty boy Legolas:

"I've decided to make my semi-permanent leave permanent. JKII just doesn't hold me the way it used to, not only that but some computer problems have also made the game unplayable so I couldn't truly return even if I wanted to. The Academy has been a great experience in my life, and I'm sad to be leaving but I feel that my time has come. I've stuck it out since the beginning and have enjoyed just about every moment of it. The JA has grown a lot since I've been here, and I'm glad that I got a chance to meet so many cool people, but as I've said before it's just my time to move on. For now I wouldn't expect me to be back any time soon, if at all, but if the game grabs me again or more likely when JK:JA comes out theres always the chance of me returning. Farewell to you all, and of course, May the Force be with You. "

Activity Check -doobie- Apr 15 03:38am -130 comments-
The latest enema... I mean purging of inactives has me curious. How many of the "800" are active on the servers or just active on the site? If you'd be so kind, post ONE (and only one) comment on this news post, I'm curious to see how many comments it gets and what people consider their activity level to be.

Bueller... Bueller...

This town needs an enema! -DJ Sith- Apr 14 05:07am -18 comments-
We've run another inactivity check around here. All people who haven't accessed any part of the site since March 8th have had their accounts turned off. This shouldn't have turned off any active acounts, but if it did please let us know.

The number of active users has dropped from 1741 to 810. We've never run an inactivity check like this so close to the current time. Usually it's about 2 months or so. I'm glad that you folks are still visiting this place after nearly one year in operation. :)
