I'm sure those of you who have been around a while are saying "Mini? HA! Doobie can't give just a MINI address, they're always huge!" Well watch me! There's been a lot of talk about the state of the Academy as of late. Here's my take on things. We're in a dead zone. JK2 has plateau'd and we're all waiting for JK:JA to come out. People are tired, vacationing, or simply drained out of JK2. But things are changing. The JACs are all coming out of hibernation (except JACen, he's been holding down the fort, go JACe!), we're getting the JAT ranks reorganized, the JAK ranks have been filled, and the transition to JA is being planned as we speak. Things are looking up right now for the future. I should warn you though that those of you who are disheartened and either considering retiring or have already retired, things won't get better or change quickly. We're focusing all of our energy on getting ready for JA, so there won't be any noticeable changes until JA gets closer to release. The JK2 incarnation of the Academy is, in my opinion, running smoothly, with classes, dedicated teachers, and good students. Just wait out the "dog days" and rest assured that, behind the scenes, we're getting ready to bring the JA to the next level! And now I'm off to my cave to hibernate more until I need to make another appearance  |

JJ showed me this recent post from him and asked me to make a news post about it. I think it is new's worthy so I copy/pasted it. Please read it. Folks, I bear bad news. Tiamat, AnaalNathrakh, Maciek, or however you know him, was recently involved in a horrific accident, in which he sustained very serious injury to his shoulder and hand. He recently went under the knife, and we haven't heard from him since. We know that he will never regain full use of his shoulder and hand again, thus, it is likely he'll find it difficult to play JKII with us again. Maciek is a dear friend of mine, and has stuck by me through thick and thin. He was also the first person I taught in the JA as a padawan/apprentice. Please leave words of support for him, because by god, i'll drag his butt to the doors of the JA if I have to! Its official, my gfx card is going to take 3-4 weeks to get fixed/replaced so until then I can t be online on the servers. I’m going to reschedule my classes. Open session classes will be still on, but I'll do them on IRC. I'm going to try to borrow one that supports OpenGL from a friend. If I get it classes are back on the regular schedule. Monty asked me to tell you that he will be back from his vacations in August and will be scheduling his classes again. WB buddy. He also showed me this post from cM@D_x about a TS radio station on our TS server. I think this idea is very cool so check it out. |
