Thanksgiving Invitational Tournament 2! -doobie- Nov 14 08:16am -46 comments-
Ladies and gentleman, I would like to cordially invite you to participate in the second annual Jedi Academy Thanksgiving Invitational Tournament (or TIT2 for short). This year's tournament is being organized and ran by everyone's favorite piggy, FaDed, as well as skyler_ and is for Students only (ranked members will be judges)!

Details will follow as they develop, including start dates, but here's what we know. It would be a tournament for JK:JO (since we have JAmod for it, as well as the fact that it's arguably more stable), will be a 64 player tournament (at least that's the goal) set up like the NCAA basketball tournament (or like an expanded version of the world cup without pool play for you non-Americans). Each of the four groups will have 16 competitors. Groups A and B will be comprised of people from North America and Australia (and anyone else in the general vicinity of those areas), while Groups C and D will be composed of Europe, and anyone we have from Africa. People from Asia are free to choose whichever groups fit their time zones better, since the only reason we've broken the groups up like this is to accomodate times around the world.

As for structure, it will be as follows: Round 1 and 2 will consist of a best 2 out of 3 (NF, FF, NF), Rounds 3 and 4 will be best 4 out of 7 (2NF, 3FF, 2NF), Round 5 will be best 4 out of 7 (but with 2FF, 3NF, 2FF instead), and the finals will be... well a lot of fights.

That's pretty much all from now. You'll hear from FaDed in the comments of this news post soon, and we'll post the dates and way to sign up as soon as it's ready. Good luck to everyone!

1.01 patch is real and released! -DJ Sith- Nov 11 11:26pm -15 comments-
The 1.01 patch has been officially released! Check the official release for what's been changed and fixed. I'm happy with the changes so far.

Dedicated server version 1.011 has been released for 1.01 client compatibility. ONLY dedicated server admins need to download this. You'll need to copy assets3.pk3 from a client installation to your server in order for your installallation to work. Linux binaries are here. Dedicated server binaries for sissymary Windows admins are here.

Our servers have been updated so you need the patch in order to play. I've set the default map to Angel's v4 map conversion. So get that one too!

Have fun and as always let me know if you spot any problems!

v4 map converted for JA! -DJ Sith- Nov 11 06:36am -19 comments-
@nGeLD'Kana[JAP] has converted version 4 of our map to work with Jedi Academy! All the textures are there. The only thing missing is background music. Time to play the skywalker theme in Winamp in the background I guess. :) You can get the map here! Expect to see it on the JA servers until the new map is finished. Thanks, Angel!

A Jedi Academy patch?? -DJ Sith- Nov 11 04:18am -12 comments-
Apparently the 1.01 patch for Jedi Academy was released then quickly taken off Lucasarts' FTP server. Check out this Bluesnews link for details and download links. If they removed it there may be a problem with it, but that shouldn't stop us from experimenting, right? :)

More Server Updates! -DJ Sith- Nov 06 09:06am -16 comments-
It looks like most of the bugs have been worked out of the new web server. I still have to get JIRC working again, and that's about it. For now expect to see "Unregistered Copy" all over the place if you chat via the website.

The DNS is taking time to update and appears to be reverting to the old server in come cases. I'll work on that with Huxley. For now please reference this site by IP if you're having problems with www.thejediacademy.net.

I've moved the Teamspeak server to the new site and upgraded it to version RC2. So far it appears to run swimmingly. You'll need to update your TS client in order to connect to it now.

Now for some good news! I've been moving these things to the new server so the game server can be dedicated for games and games only. Lately the game servers have been running in tip top shape. So what's this mean? Much less lag. You can start actually playing and attending classes on our servers agai and it won't suck! Go nuts! Enjoy!

For those that don't know our game servers are run by our former councilman Huxley. He puts alot of hard work into this server. Everyone send him an email saying how much you appreciate it. :)

A quick plug -DJ Sith- Nov 05 05:30am -13 comments-
This is the first, last, and only time you'll see me do this. I work for a datacenter and am allowed a free colocated server or two. The new web server is sitting in a cabinet at work right now. At work we have a super almost stupidly robust and redundant network. I work for ThePlanet Internet Services and ServerMatrix. Look us up for your colocation or managed server rental needs. Ok enough with the shameless plug. Enjoy the new server. :)
