More Good News! The US servers strike back! -solitude- Jul 10 02:50am -4 comments-
Thanks to Huxley, both US Home and our Public TFFA servers are back up.

The servers page has been updated appropriately.

Server Passwords Changed -Virtue- Jul 03 06:00pm -7 comments-
Due to a recent security issue, passwords for all game servers have been changed.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people that we have rules in place for good reason. We let people get away with minor infractions every now and then because we're human, but it's become common that when we give some people an inch, they take a mile.
A few things that I can mention here:
Server NPC Spawn - Dark Jedi NPCs are there for training purposes in the v1 and v2 maps, not for you to spawn armies to keep you amused. Over-use is a strain on our servers and sucks up all our bandwidth, don't do it. You know who you are, and so do we!

Also - just because you haven't technically broken any rules, doesn't mean we can't decide to show you the door if we think you're an ass, no matter how long you've been here or what rights you think you may have. In fact, the only rights you have within the JA are the rights given to you by the admins.

Lastly - When you joined the JA, you ticked a box that confirmed that you had read and agreed to the rules and that you would follow them. If you ticked the box anyways and decided not to read, that's your problem, we're not going to be responsible for your ignorance, when dealing with an incident, we assume that EVERYONE knows the rules, so if you haven't, you're about to have a bad day. :P

On a happier note:
I've got new socks on. :D

Server update - Good News Everyone! -solitude- Jun 30 06:26pm -8 comments-
The server page is now fully up to date.

All 5 servers are in the United Kingdom - but East Coast USA pings are reasonable too.

We now have working home and classes servers. :)

We also have CTF and Instagib servers.

We also have a new fun server - running older maps and other things that are not done on the other servers. :)

There are 12 people on the fun server right now and activity is increasing daily.

Come and join us. :D

We have a new n00bstick! ... err, I mean Staff member! -Virtue- Jun 27 06:36pm -13 comments-
Okay so, in one of our by-monthly attempts to wrench ourselves out of the proverbial swamp of quicksand which is the JA's seemingly dwindling activity without trying to do too much kicking and screaming - we've decided to give Solitude a Staff position. This is pretty much purely based on his recent efforts of providing us with FIVE new Euro servers (with room on his box for more, if we should need them) combined with the fact that he is a metaphorical shining light by way of being "a nice guy", as well as the fact that he just knows what he's doing when it comes to running servers.

Right, so Sol is now the official Euro Server manager of the JA, his Euro Home server is the official Euro Home server etc.
His Staff rank enables him to add/edit servers to the Servers page (which does need an audit, which he's already said he'd be happy to do, yay!) as well as being able to view and post on forums as high-ranking as JAT.

At this point, I would usually say "Congratulations!" and then encourage all of you guys to do the same. But the fact is, HE is the one doing US a favour, so we should be congratulating OURSELVES for being smart enough (if not a little slow, admittedly) to get him in to take care of this stuff for us. Lol.

So, let us express our appreciation!
Thank you Sol! You are t3h ub4r pwnz! :D

What a piece of junk! -Virtue- Jun 06 10:16am -31 comments-
Okay, so this news post is long overdue for two reasons: #1, There hasn't been a news post since April. #2, The content of this news post should have been covered ages ago (although a Forums post has been made about it).
So apologies for that. :(

Basically, servers.
Here's the deal...

Kaelis and Myself provide our official EU Servers, but due to a loophole in the contract that we had with our company on their part concerning the amount of bandwidth used, they decided to shut our box down. This meant that JA Euro Home went down, as did Jaktorow (Aurochs Server) and our two MovieBattles Servers.
We are currently in the process of getting a new (and better) box with a different company and getting all of our servers back online again the reason we've been held up is because one of us had an unforseen RL issue that had to be addressed, so we need to wait for payday again before we can finalise the Server purchases, so please bare with us, they'll be back soon! (Huge apologies to the Aurochs as well) :)

As for the US Servers... I personally am not sure why they're down and I wasn't actually aware of it until recently. I did speak with Huxley a few weeks ago though - he was unaware of the "slowmo lag" troubles that we were having on them and felt really bad about it, he told me that he'd get them working properly again - so maybe the US Server downtime is due to Hux giving them a bit of an audit. :)

There are a couple of (really awesome) people who have been good enough to donate servers to us recently, Johauna and Solitude.
Johauna is having a few problems with her hosting company right now but is confident her server will be back online any time now, so her server information will be updated as soon as that happens
Solitude has only just recently donated his server.

So thank you very much to both members, we really appreciate it! :D

I hope the rest of you are all well and hope to see you soon! :)

Out with the old and in with the new -DJ Sith- Apr 02 04:03am -18 comments-
We've been mulling this over for a while. After meeting with the Council and the leaders of the Jedi Academy Aurochs, our awesome competitive team we've decided to dissolve the Aurochs. Everyone agrees that the Academy's needs are best served by the Chewbax0rz clan. They've got the good looks and grace that fit right in with our philosophies. This change takes effect immediately, and we'll close the Aurochs site down within a week after we wrap everything up. Please see a council member if you have questions. Current Aurochs are more than welcome into Chewbax0rz clan. Have fun, everyone!

A JAK From Afar! -Kaelis- Feb 10 01:45pm -13 comments-
Well its finally the time for a new Knight, the first of 2008 at that.

He's a pro CTF'r and passed his trial with flying colours, so without further ado i'd like everyone to go and congratulate FullMetal as our new Knight coming in from the big U.S.A.

Expect to see some CTF classes coming your way very shortly.

The Force Unleashed on Vanity Fair -doobie- Feb 07 10:20pm -7 comments-
Ahoy everyone, it's your old chum Doobie here... saw this article on one of my many gaming-related sites and felt like it was a good one for my homies in the JA to check out. I'm getting hte feeling that The Force Unleashed is going to be the spiritual successor to the Jedi games we've known and loved for years round these parts. Sure, it's for the consoles, but between you and I, I've used my xbox 360 a whole lot more for gaming recently than my pc (I can't afford to upgrade, not that my 4 year old beast of a laptop has any upgrade options). Oh and speaking of beasts... just a heads up, the article is a looooooong one!

Rin's Christmas Map on the Servers! -Virtue- Dec 21 02:54pm -7 comments-
Rin Mintaka's Christmas Map is now on the US JK3 Home and Classes Servers and will remain there until after Christmas Day.

Come have a party with us! :D

The map can be downloaded from here!

Christmas Time -Virtue- Dec 13 03:04pm -19 comments-
It's been a while since we've had new News here, so I figured most of you wouldn't really mind what sort of content it was, you'd just be happy to see a new news post, fulfilling your hopes that there may be one or two of us that are still alive around here, hehe.

Mr. JamesF1 has written a new article entitled Christmas-time, and seeing as it's also been a while since we've had an article posted, he was worried that people wouldn't see it - it's a good article so I figured I'd post it here in the news so that more people could potentially see it.

In other news, Mr. Rin Mintaka has built a Christmas map for us. A few people went onto the JAA Longhorn server last night (thanks for your help there, R2!) to beta test it (I was supposed to go too, but couldn't make it in the end :() and from what I heard, it's a pretty decent map. So we'll be putting that up on our Home Servers over Christmas and having us a little Christmas party. :D
There's no real dates set for this to happen, you'll all be informed when the map is up and be given the link to download it - at which point, just join the server(s) whenever you like and proceed to party with us.

As for the Euro Servers (including JAA's Jaktorow), yes, they're down. The company that provides the connection for our box in the datacenter has been hacked for the second time in 6 months... we're pretty annoyed about this and are currently in the process of setting up an entirely new box (with far better specs) in a different datacenter, if the former company manages to get itself sorted out soon, then we'll carry on using our current game server box temporarily until the new box is set up correctly, which could take up to a week.
The US JA Servers are still up though, so we can still use those.

In closing, I would just like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope that you had a good Thanks Giving for those who celebrate it. Please make sure you take care in your travels this season, the roads are icy, it's freezing cold outside and it can get quite foggy, please take care. :)
