< 2.5: Force Powerups 3: Movement >
2.6: Force Combos -Jake Kainite - Feb 15 04:42am
There are some skills which result from combining 2 or more force powers together, using them simultaneously or in a sequence. Force combos consist of a chain of events, each one not being able to occur unless the one before it is met, and in the correct order. This doesn’t apply to combos that involve constantly running force powers such as the Speed/Rage, as they can be activated in either order. The simultaneous combos only need the user to be aware at the beginning of the combo. Combos that are in a sequence require constant input until the sequence is either completed or interrupted.

Using 2 force powers together or in a sequence which has no affect or benefit, is not a combo. Things such as using mind trick and push are not combos, they are just 2 force powers used back to back, as either one could be performed on its own.

Grip Combos

Grip Launch/Grip throw:
Hold your opponent in force grip at greater than a 45-degree angle and quickly push them. If done correctly they will travel a long way.

Grip Drop:

Hold an opponent in grip then jump upwards, aiming them above your head, then either let go or finish it with a Grip throw. They will take large amounts of falling damage when they land.

Grip Kick:

Whilst gripping opponent, aim your cursor at the ground. The target will come close to you, enabling you to kick them repeatedly, causing grip damage as well as kick damage.

Grip Kick Launch:

Perform the grip kick on an opponent, and just as you begin to backflip, look straight upwards and let go of grip. This will send the target flying straight up and will take falling damage when they land. This can be extended by using push once they are in the air, so they will go higher or travel further.

Push/Pull Combos

Launch:
Kick your opponent; quickly use pull to send them flying upwards then use push to send them flying. Similar to the grip launch and occasionally more effective, most commonly used by lightsiders without the benefit of grip.

Another variation on this is to jump either straight up or preferably towards and over your opponent and use pull whilst aiming down at them. They will fly backwards underneath you, travelling quite a distance. This will not work if they are in a force defensible position.

Speed/Rage:
This is a skill invented and adapted to by Capture the Flag players which has found its way into the other general game play types as well.

This combo involves the activation of force Speed and Rage at the same time. Both powers giving you increased speed in use together make you travel extremely fast enabling you to make some jumps which aren’t possible at normal speeds, and make you a harder target to hit, as you can literally be gone in the blink of an eye. This skill is often used along with strafe jump for even greater speed.

It is especially usefull if used with guns as rage increases your fire rate and allows you to sometimes break through saber defense 3. Speed helps you avoiding hits.

Throw/Pull(Kick):
This combo uses saber throw and force pull. It is a bug in the game which many people exploit and many people disagree with. As it exists though, the best way to avoid it is to be aware of it.

The normal blocking system in JKII means that if a lightsaber is thrown at you and you are in a defensive position you will block it. If force push or pull are used on you, then your hand automatically comes up to block it, breaking any deensive stance you might be in.

To perform this move, throw you lightsaber at your opponent, and just before it reaches them use force pull. This will break the blocking animation and get a full hit in on them.

This combo can also incorporate a kick where the pull in the sequence is done at a closer proximity to the opponent and the pull moves them into range of a kick, causing more damage resulting from the combo or knocking them down, so a follow up move can be used.

Pull kick is often used as a combo in itself as well, which is highly effective for kicking opponents who are running away.

Umm I thought you can onyl use one force power at at ime and you can not slice while using grip (hence no saber throw) Maybe they did not cover that balance issue on computer like they did on xbox. Also another interestign combo is if you combi rage with speed and fists... fists skip shield and autmaticly do 10 damage of health per punch. so a guy with a lightsaber and 100 shield and you have 100 shield with rage and speed is about to be bludgened to death.

Firstly you can't grip and lightning at the same time, and secondly....you can't grip and saber throw at the same time :D

Combos are force powers being used together to give you a unique effect, not just using 2 powers at the same time or after one another.

Hope that cleared things up :D
