Hey does anyone have any tips (config editing, etc.) to get a better ping with JA?
I'm on a cable connection and I play other games online (such as CoD) and I have wonderful ping, but for some reason my ping on JA is pretty rough.

Ideas? Thanks!

There are some tweaks with the code that can be done to better gameplay. I'll let Orion know.

/com_maxfps 120 has nothing to do with ping, only FPS. Still useful, though. ^^

Set your cl_maxpackets for 30 for lowest ping. If your ping continues to be high, try lowering your rate to about the 10000, or just experiment... lower it a bit, see if your ping gets better or worse, and so on.

/cl_timenudge -10 (perhaps even higher... higher being something like -25... can only use 0 to disable, and negative values)

Yeah the game is funny about saving your settings. Every mod has a differnt jampconfig.cfg. So the thing to do is have autoexec.cfg execute a CFG file with all your settings (exec mysettings.cfg) and HOPEFULLY that will make it work. As far as the sudden jumps...tune down your rate to say 22000 and maybe your cl_maxpackets. It sounds like packet loss to me. Also go looking for one of those net tweaker things and make sure its set for the best settings for cable/dsl.

Also try tweaking your FPS. Here are some good resources for that:

I believe that might have helped.
I entered these values in jampconfig. That will work just as well as entering them via console, right?

I was getting better ping on a server, but I was having "Connection Interrupted" problems and my ping was jumping up into the 500's. I'm not sure if this was a result of these configuration settings or maybe my connection was just having problems.

I'm having issues with the game not saving my options such as controls, video settings, and profile adjustments.

yeah there are a few console commands to try out.
For cable try these

rate 20000 - 25000
snaps 30 or 40
cl_maxpackets 40-80
com_maxfps 120
cl_packetdup 1

I think I use:
rate 25000
snaps 30
cl_maxpackets 40
com_maxfps 120
cl_packetdup 1

Hope that helps!
