Hi you all..

I've noticed lately that everyone are congratulating people on their birtdays, and I find myself completely unaware when people are celebrating. My suggestion is to make a system here on thejediacademy.net that would show the people having birthdays on the front page, for this everyone would have to announce their birthday. Of course the announcing would be up to yourselves, but I think it could be a nice thing to add here..

Now to see if anyone's with me..

While people are working on this solution, maybe there should be one permanent topic in the General Discussion where one can announce it's his or her birthday, and others can congratulate them.

Great idea. If it could be linked to Birthday field (need one created) on ppl's profiles that would be best.

Actually, this is a great idea. The General Discussion is crammed with 'Happy birthday' threads, and it's not that I don't wish those people a happy birthday, but it's getting slightly annoying

okay well

if we just have a box on our profile's which allows us to edit our age, all we need is a your birthdate.

In other words:
Date() - <birthdate> = age.
all we need is a database with all the data, and a PHP script to look it all up.

ok well good we have some interested people here..
With DJ's help we could make an inputbox to the "edit your profile" -page, just as Kueller said.. there everyone could vonluntarily post their birthdates and they would be inputted to a database from where the PHP script would seek them up.. for this there surely will already be some scripts, so we just need to find them.. and I have a good friend of mine who could make it. he's actually very good at PHP-coding..

So anyway keep up posting your suggestions and interestments..

I have a huge knowledge of Access, a database program.

I also have 81 Birthdays...

If I get enough people interested, and have a talk with DJ, I think we could arrange a "team" that would deal with this issue and make the code and databases under DJ's demands.. For this I would need people who can use/create databases and PHP.. I have a small amount of knowledge when it comes to PHP and MySQL, and would need some of you other guys to help me with this.. Anyone interested, please post here..

Why not include an option in the My Account info where you can voluntarily give out your birth date, that way it would be easy to incorporate into a database and be used

well, I actually started this project a while back
and I called it the ACP (Academy Calendar Project)
but due to lack of interest, and lack of people giving out their birthdates, I had a really though time at it...

and after a while, I just gave up

I believe I still have the file though, with about 50 people in it.
