I have a 28.8 kbps modem it usually runs fine, but yesterday i was joining the servers and i noticed that my ping was HUGE (999), and it was lagging. What can i do to decrease my ping?

Usually the cheap 56K modems are the ones to avoid. Those are crappy Crappy CRAPPY software based modems usually. A good modem should run you about $80. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

u can get 56k modems really cheap so that would be a quick solution |

Make sure you're not running any programs that use up any bandwidth while you play (like Kazaa or a web browser, or streaming mp3's).
If you have a 56k modem, yet only connect at 28.8k there's not much you can really do for that. Make sure you have the latest firmware patch for your modem. 96% of the time though it will be that your phone lines can only handle a v.34 connection though. Phone lines were built to carry analog voice, not analog data where theres less room for error.  _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

dsl is not the only answer, but truly the only way to lower your ping is to increase the speed at which you can send/recieve data. That means faster modem or broadband. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |
