the maps in the process, should be done once i figure out how 2 fix this lil bug i have, ne1 whos good at mapping please leave a message on my profile, oh and the maps isnt really big, so the fps will be pretty good, the map consists of multiple dueling areas along with 3-4 training rooms, if anyone has any idea feel free to leave them in my profile and if i like it ill add it in. thanks _______________ Come on now, every Generation X boy wanted to be Luke Skywalker. Hey PJ, The JASE server is live and rock'n & roll'n, but we still are trying to max it out, just so we will know what it can and can't handle. This map is HUGE, so the FPS is definitly smaller, 2 is BAD, LOL, we all average around 50-75. Your poor vid card.....lol. We will primarily be using the default Home and Advent until Jedi Prodigy is done with the JASE map. He is doing a fantastic Job on it and will probably be up with in the next two weeks Prod? Just so everyone knows, the last of the feedback that we have received has been implemented. JAK/T/C are no longer required to vote for a student to be accepted into the JASE. The new criteria for acceptance is: To become part of the JASE, you must receive: 25 Positive Votes from your fellow JA Students, Thanks to everyone so much for your feedback and helping us create this. I totally agree with Master Lew. If one JAK+JAT+JAC agree on somebody beeing that great he's a candidate for knight, not JASE  As you've said yourself, run BY students for students. So keep us silly JAK and above out of this.I have already stated my concerns and I havent seen any relevant changes so far. Master Lew, Thank you for your input. Regarding the "Best in the Academy" statement, I actually feel I agree with you having thought this through. However, you have to remember, JASE accepts applications from people who WANT to be recognized. You may also leave feed back on the Accolades forum, recognizing students that may not even be asking for it. The ball field is open to accomodate all types of recognition, formally (being the JASE Tag) and informally (being the Accolades forum). A Student may be the "Best" in the JA and want nothing to do with the JASE, true...and that is okay. The Students however, may recognize that greatness and post it on the "Accolades" forum. So theoretically, what the JASE hopes to accomplish is: either way...ALL those deserving of recognition will receive it. The JASE absolutely may not hold their status with a boastful or arrogant attitude. We have Zero Tolerance for that. Hope that clears up at least some of your reservations? *EDIT And as far as JAK, JAT, JAC having to vote for applicants, this is actually under review right now as to if we are going to keep that policy. Several JAK/JAT have signed up already and have voted, so it seemed to be working. But this may not be the final policy. Wow lew, that was really well thought out! Good job. Something I'd point out is that saying you're the best in the academy may not only be true (Because some people just might not want to join) but it also isn't a very humble thing to say. I thought that was a characteristic of a JASE member in the outline but I'm not too sure. As for the JAK/T/C endorsement, I wouldn't have anyone get in a huff about it. It's just asking the people to be a judge of character that do that everyday, and I would imagine it's pretty informal too. "Whaddya think of bob?" "Duels good, plays nice." You know? Though I would have personally liked to see someone asking if we would like to be involved directly in this. Anyways, congratulations on getting it off the ground! |

I have remained quite on this subject and watching it develop, but now I think it’s time for me to speak-up and voice some of my concerns. BTW, I have been reading and following all of the posts on this subject so that I could express myself with a full understanding of the subject. So here it goes; I thought this Society, (JASE) was to be completely separate from the influences of the JA, but sanctioned by the JA Council to reside on the JA Forms and Servers for its members. This is from the ‘About the JASE’ “The Jedi Academy Society of Excellence is a group of students at the Jedi Academy devoted to excellence and those who pursue it. JASE is founded on the belief that students should be recognized for their efforts and abilities. Students selected into JASE are well respected, good mannered, and skilled in all areas of the game Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. Because of these qualities, these students are considered to be the best in the academy and deserving of recognition. JASE also acts as a student government within the JA. Both members and nonmembers of JASE can discuss matters involving student to student matters using the JASE forum. Student opinion guides and directs the progress of JASE. JASE is run by students for students. By allowing students to be seen and heard by those around them, JASE is intended to keep students enrolled in the JA active and happy! To become part of the JASE, you must receive: 20 Positive Votes from Students 1 Positive Vote from any JAK 1 Positive Vote from any JAT 1 Positive Vote from any JAC.” I see now that the upper ranks of the JA need to approve membership into the JASE. Now don’t get me wrong, I think that this is a good thing, but this is almost like what we have now to advance to the higher ranks in the JA. Doesn’t this defeat the purpose of the JASE in allowing its Student Members to decide the fate of its membership? “JASE is run by students for students.” (see above) and yes, I know that we are all students. That’s not the point I’m making. The point I’m making is for clarity in the Charter Statement. What ever you decide it to be. Getting a vote from a JAK, JAT, and JAC will be like the old days when a lot of students kept asking for trials. Who will keep track of the votes for membership and how will people know if they have enough? Sounds like the old “point system” that didn’t work so well. I also think that the following statement should be removed, because it’s not necessary true and this organization is separate from the JA. “Because of these qualities, these students are considered to be the best in the academy and deserving of recognition.” The part that I disagree with is, “the best in the academy”. This infers that if you are not a JASE member, you are not considered one of the best in the Jedi Academy. This could lead to more problems with peoples egos than there is now. And who will consider you one of the best in the academy? You are just by being a member? What about those who don’t want to join? Are they no longer considered one of the best in the JA? Some people might think so. I brought these points up to help inform those who might not have thought of these potential problems and to encourage deeper thought on the subject. This I hope will help improve this organization for its members and non-members alike. This post is long enough for now. More will come at a later time as time permits.
