I have written it! From Clan Master to Xentinels, check it out here:

http://jkhub.org/wiki/index.php?title=Competitive_Play

It all started out with me wondering what the competition was like nowadays, then I fell into nostalgia and started collecting demos. And then I started writing about it. So yeah, there you have it. Feel free to point out mistakes or important stuff that I missed etc. Also feel free to send me demos of matches that you believe should be included in the 'notable games' section or just improve upon it yourself!

EDIT: Fixed the link.

Hey, Dark! Long time no see!

The reason why I didn't include you as a founding member was that I didn't know about it. Maze wrote a short history on Zedi on our archives here, which is terribly inaccurate when it comes to dates, but I assumed everything else was at least somewhat right, and it says that you were recruited later on. I also asked Feader about that post and he said it was alright, so I just assumed it was fine. So yes, you are definitely right about them leaving you out - I'll make sure to correct it asap though!

For the founding date (and also the early history) I used the old zedi page as a source, as well as your esl page, both of which tell me the team was created in early 2004, so I just stuck with that.

And yeah you're right about the 2v2s - it's why I didn't add them to the normal ladder scores in the last tables and only stayed with TDM. It's mostly because aXiom was really into 2v2, but nobody else was, so it felt massively unfair to include the rest of their 2v2s into the final ladder score. I wrote a short summary of their 2v2 record, but left it as a mere curiosity. However, I did feel like some of the matches between really significant 2v2 teams like cube+secht (or dureal+sadrior) vs insane+osiris should be counted towards the big four score (i.e. as official matches between Ozone and nL or aXiom). Partly because, let's face it, ins and osi were quite a legendary team and they felt rather serious about the 2v2 ladder from what I remember, partly also because beating up aXiom in 2v2 was a huuge deal back then and it only serves to show how good o3 really was; but also because the o3 page itself treats them as official matches between o3 and nL - or well, at least I think it does. It doesn't list any of the lesser 2v2 wins scored by o3, or any of the other wins or losses of the other 2v2 teams you guys had, so I felt like this was a big deal.

But even without the 2v2s, the score wouldn't be affected all that much. Ozone would still be ahead against everyone else in terms of matches, although I guess there would no draw with nL. It's just that removing the 2v2s would make the scores themselves just a tad bit lower and therefore less impressive. I mean, without them you guys would be on a 1-0 against aXiom, which a lot of clans can claim as well; but with the 2v2s, you guys actually managed to win against aXiom in TDM -and- 2v2 at roughly the same time, which is a significant achievement that would not be repeated again until March 2010 (when Xentinels did the same)!

Pretty interesting read Masta - nice one!

Not sure that I agree with some of the zedi stuff though... wow, it definitely seems a long time ago now!

I know that for some reason whenever I read some zedi history I always seem to be left out of the founding members part ( zedi was formed with [SASH] members: tox, maze, cookie and myself with the two promising [dF] players dime and sleepy). I guess I am always forgotten because I was probably 12/13 years old at the time! haha. also the clan was established end of 03 not start of 04 I believe.

It feels alot of the sources (regarding why zedi didn't go into ESL) are german esl players who didn't get on with zedi at the time but from what I remember the original zedi had never managed the chance to compete in the ESL because whenever an official match between zedi and certain german teams had taken place the game had stopped because the german team would insist on a 'health and sheild pickups round' as their choice of gametype which zedi was strongly opposed to in tffa. the rules in ESL meant many teams were likely to exploit this gametype choice and was one of the reasons i remember zedi never joined (not to mention the original line-up didn't live actively incredibly long either!). I think this is why there were so many controversial 'friendlies', lol

Also, i'm not sure if when assessing the big four head-head it is a good idea to take into account 2on2s. I see why you did it, but regarding ozone the team that represented us in your table was officially the most successful, but not the proven best pair skillwise. That and it's a slightly different sort of team death match when compared to a more team-oriented 4on4 game etc.

It took quite a lot of research, but it was incredibly fun and rewarding. I probably should have mentioned this, but I'm not pulling anything out of the hat in that article - I actually have sources for practically every statement I make over there. I added my sources only for some of the more controversial stuff that I wrote and that some people might be prone to disbelieve.

In fact, maybe I can get the jkhub admins to add a references template so I can state all my sources without breaking the flow of the text too much. Anyways, glad you guys like it!

I also just skimmed it now, but will read it fully later. This article looks like it's very thourough and detailed - well done, man! I wasn't a competitive player in JKJA, but I'm still interested in reading this - partly because I recognize some of the teams/names and partly to fill in the blanks. :)
