Map ideas

Hello everyone! I've just learned how to make maps and now I want to practise my new mapping skills a bit. But due to a lack of inspiration I'm stuck. So I ask you: Do you got any ideas for a good map? What should be in it? How should it look? What maptype should it be?

I was already thinking about that and I've got some prototypes already. I'll start working on the map today.:D

I got good idea.

Go to this website, http://jediknight3.filefront.com/file/Jedi_Temple_Lobby;96850 and look screenshots.
Make like that map, but more rooms like that, like in videos.

A few things.

- Too many wide open spaces.
These should be used sparingly if ever.

- (To iterate on above) Not enough Detail.
If wide open spaces HAVE to be used, the need a ton of detail to make it look like some thing that isn't a hollowed out box in space.

- No lighting
Lighting plays a key part in all maps new and old, with out it there is no contrast making the level bland and repetitive. We're not playing Doom 1!

Now, get that hallway up on there!

That first row of screenshots looks almost exactly as one of my maps.. try it

Anyway, good job, just make some good atmosphere with lighting, and it will rock.

Okay I made some screenies of my maps. All fully made by me! But Setementor deserves some credit for teaching me how to make maps. I made 3 maps btw and all are stil WIP.

Could you fit a McDonalds into a map? or a Starbucks... Sometimes I feel I could perform better if i had a caffienne stimulant in-game.

:) I'm working on a map with 2 forts. The gametypes will be ffa tffa and ctf. Both forts have an armory, garage and sniper tower. Both forts act as a base and you don't have to leave your fort to shoot enemy players.

Some good CTF and TFFA type maps, like in SW battlefront, with lots of sniper spots and areas where you have to storm through the middle of the enemy's base, like the docks from the first battlefront, if you played it, not those identical maps but with a similar fell to them. they will need to be big though.
