Well where to begin? Virtue said most things pretty well. But I will add my view on the swearing rule. I have never seen it as a thing of “think of the children.” There is always a time and place for profanity. Some areas it’s definitely better not to have it. In the online world excessive swearing can lead to a lot of overt flaming and other problems that we see as undesirable and avoidable. By not allowing it you eliminate a large way for that to occur. You can’t stop it completely but it’s slowed down considerably. You don’t need to be able to swear every place you go in your life. In fact its better not to. Now I realize that jacen aratan there lacks the intellectual capacity to actually form coherent sentences without the F word thrown if for good measure, but that’s his problem not ours. You can’t talk without cussing, you can’t play a game without respecting your other players, then leave. We don’t want you here, and we’ll all be much happier with you gone. It also saves me the displeasure of having to ban people who were once considered good members of the community. I also knew about you being involved with septimo. The only naivety on my part was thinking you were actually still a valuable member to the community to let it slide and give you the opportunity to continue on here, and give you the chance to admit to knowing. Sorry to burst your bubble aratan but this is a game. Don’t get all pissed off when people have fun a different way than you and you’re not able to grasp how they can have fun playing the way they do. By the way go learn some information about nazi’s. They’re socialists, and have a serious problem with jews. It's really sad that it has come to this. I'm sorry we couldn't keep you happy, Jace. As I'm sure you know, we can't please everyone, and I'm sorry that you were one of the people we couldn't. It's a complicated thing, running a community with so many members. I'll admit that I'm no angel when it comes to "being cool 100% of the time", but like you, I'm only human, and so are the others (except DJ, he's a love machine). As for the swearing thing, well, people come here to get away from real life. As you said, it's a game and people play it to have fun. People of all ages come here, the ages of our members range from about 6 years old, to 40 and I'm sure people such as Darth Mobility and Javaguy, who have children would appreciate having a something that their kids can look at without picking up any bad habbits. Not only that, many swear words have different levels of offensiveness depending on where you come from, so people will say a word that seems harmless to some, but others are getting quite offended at it and as I said, since this community has grown to be so large, too many of these conflicts will create many complications. So we decided to make "swearing" against the rules. Now, we're not going to ban anyone for saying "ass" every once in a while but believe it or not, we do actually get complaints from people about the language of other Students, it's not really the JAC that are trying to throw around their oares just because one guy said a dodgy word once upon a time. Our job is to do what we can to make this an enjoyable community for everyone that we can and if someone comes to us, complaining about somebody doing something that is against the rules, we will act on it (I will mention no names here). Now you needn't believe this, but I give you my word (for what it's worth) that it's true. As for this case, Jace, I know you have felt like this for some time now and I think I know what it was that pushed you over the edge. Hopefully you'll believe me when I say that recent events did not happen because a guy said something as tame as "ass", it went much deeper than that. Me? I just want everyone to be happy. It's an impossible task to achieve, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to stop trying. I'm not going to edit or delete your initial post or try to step on your point. But I will lock this thread.
