Server Conduct -doobie - Sep 29 11:43am

Ladies and gentleman things are getting out of control. Conduct on the servers lately has been atrocious and unnecessary. The Council and I have been receiving FAR too many complaints of people breaking the rules on the servers. I've already lowered the warning limit to two a few weeks ago, and I'd rather not lower it to 1 (aka insta-ban). From now on I expect and demand everyone to follow the rules. If this doesn't occur, I am fully authorizing those JATs with admin access to temporarily ban rulebreakers (after attempting to defuse the situation without a ban) until the situation can be discussed with me, DJ, or Daina. Hopefully this threat, and yes it is a threat, will be enough to get EVERYONE (including trainers) to follow all of the rules and respect everyone else on the server. Because to be honest, the only other alternative I have is to temporarily shut down the Academy's servers, which is something I definitely do not want to do.

UPDATE - One thing I forgot to mention is this: If you feel someone has been breaking the rules, first try and find a JAT on the servers or on IRC, so they can help deal with the situation. Since there are obviously more of them than there are Council members (and they're generally online more often), they're your best bet if you want something immediately done. Although the Council members may idle in IRC, a lot of the time we're not there, so try and talk to a JAT first.

You know what's pretty saddening ? Some people somehow think that if someone breaks the rules, they have the right to take the law into their own hands and attack them. I'm not gonna name anyone, but theres a certain dutch clan who do this alot.

Just to make an addition that I agree fully with doobie and these remarks didn't come without full consideration of the consequences. Please people, this is a school and a free one at that. Let's act mature.

Well.. with new people come new problems...

I don't ever recall seeing rules being broken.. honestly, I'm gonna bet that the reports you get from people are them just blowing things out of proportion.. (ie; getting sabered once to death unlawfully, and not even saying anything to the perp and just coming straight to you.)

People need to take the law into their own hands. That doesn't mean you get frag happy on offenders. If they do something, tell them what they did, make sure they know the rules, and ask them to stop. If they continue going at it, tell them they're going to get warned. THEN go and get someone like a JAT or a JAC

Course, that's just my opinion, but I think it would cause less trouble for everyone
