Greetings!
For the first time in TEN WEEKS  , I'm back home for the weekend.
These past weeks I've been taking a radio communications course which is pretty intensive. I've learned very much about procedures, how to operate radio equipment and how to turn pages in extremely thick NATO publications to find frequencies and other useful things! Next week my class will be finished with this course, and we get to choose the type of boat on which we would like to spend the rest of our military service on. I'm currently considering three options: Mine-clearing vessel, one of our coast guard vessels or FPB (Fast patrol boat). If I choose the FPB, it's VERY likely that I'll go to the coast of Lebanon to stop weapon smugglers and other sea-faring criminals. That's all I have to say for now. There will probably be more intriguing stories to tell once I've spent some time on board a ship!
I'm glad to see that the JA still is alive and kicking! I hope you all are all right IRL too.

Ahoy! I'm home on leave for the weekend now, so I thought I'd stop by to tell you about some of the things I've been up to during the first two weeks. The first couple of days were mostly about getting your eye-sight, hearing and general health checked. There was a lot of waiting that might seem REALLY boring, but it was really a blessing in disguise, because pretty much everyone made new friends. We got placed into different rooms, and everyone had a good night's sleep (at least the ones I talked to did). After a couple of days we got our uniforms, which was a good thing because you feel like a n00b not wearing one in a military base... This last week has been the most eventful one, to be honest. On Monday we went shooting live ammo with our AG-3s! It was a completely new experience to me, and I can't wait to do it again. I hope I never have to use it for anything else than target practice, though. :\On Tuesday we went hiding in the woods. Everyone put on their camo uniforms, their helmets and smeared camo cream all over their faces and hands. The really cool part is that no one found me. I rule @ hiding! Woohoo!On Wednesday we learned about hypothermia and what to do if the ship you're on starts sinking. We learned how to tip a 12-man emergency fleet over to the right side in this little pool on camp, which was a great and useful experience. On Thursday, the troop I'm in (except a few guys) ran 10,000 meters (note: some parts were up-hill, some were down-hill). The object was that every single man (I'm not a sexist, there's just not any girls in my troop :\) had to make it to the end. So we basically had to help each other pull through and make it in 75 minutes. We pulled it off in 64 minutes, making our troop the fastest one, even though we basically had to carry this one guy through for ~7 km! On Friday we were originally going to the gas chamber to see what a few vials of (weak) nerve gas feels like, but there was unfortunately a change in plans. Meh...I was really looking forward to trying out the gas mask. Quote: Try to avoid submarine duty. 100 men go down, 50 couples come up... Haha! I actually filled out an application form for submarine duty, but I got sick and didn't get a chance to deliver it. Oh well, hopefully I'll get into the coastguard. Later, guys.
