The National Guard and Reserve suffered more combat deaths in Iraq during the first 10 days of August - at least 32, according to a Pentagon count - than in any full month of the entire war. Let me quote some peoples thought's... Quote: When was the last time you saw the President discuss the war? When was the last time he even cited the war? It is always another distraction to keep us off the war, and how wrong it was planned and to avoid the average American from finding out how poorly they planned to keep the peace as we occupied Iraq. But the soldiers who have to fight it know, and we are speaking out! But what was the "Big Story" on Fox News all week? "Duck Tape found On The Beach In Aruba." (By the way, it really is Duck tape because it is waterproof! Though I still call it 100 mph tape.) Shouldn't the "Big Story" every day be that our troops are engaged in combat? They did mention the Marines who were killed, but only in a passing remark. As one would give as a sidebar to the conversation. The networks are too busy with John Roberts and a missing teen in Aruba to even give the war the proper coverage that it should be given. Where are the camera men and reporters that are with the troops on the missions? I can remember watching Dan Rather, Ed Bradley, and other reporters reporting from Khe Sahn. Or on patrol with the 101st Airborne, in Viet-Nam. It wasn't always pretty, but it was the truth. It connected the American people to the troops, because we saw what they saw. In the article Cindy tells of meeting with the President, and he didn't even know her son's name. And he said that he wouldn't want his girls there. " Read some post's from soldiers who've been there, -here. Seriusly, I havn't seen any news about Iraq or the casualties of the war in a long time, except a tiny "oh and today more marines died, on to tonights real story..." They've even created a TV steries called "Over There" with a theme song. I mean, there are movies about vietnam now, but its been over 30 years. The war in Iraq is still going and it's been the deadliest full month so far, 32 soldiers killed in the first 10 days of August. Yet they've already made a TV show about it, depicting "what it's like" to be in Iraq. Well why don't they go film the real thing, and show the hundreds of soldiers coming home to their mothers and fathers in flag draped coffins. I havn't seen any posts, comments, or news here or in RL(tm), so I thought I'd share some. The wars not over and nothing near over, it's a cruel situation when your most patriotic citizens are paid the least and asked the most of. _______________ Free Tibet! I kinda prefer it that way. The news is already littered with reports of death, rape, ect. It happens so often that ppl just talk about things like death casually. I'm just fine with not hearing a ton about the war. Media hush Hush. Thats why I don't watch the new. They show you what they want you to see and nothing more. Oh, they will let you know something bad happened of course. But with a few quick words and then there back on topic "Are you slowly being killed in your own home?...stay tuned and we'll tell ya all about it!" The media somewhat controls how the public feels. They decide what to show and when. How to show it. Like that last quote^, it's scare tactice. They are bent on controling how you think. For alot of people out there the TV news is how they get their news. So if they are being blinded, it's not their fault. I think there should be more strictness with News and Media. Cover what the public wants you to cover.
