Server Problems
May 30 2005 12:42am Kane - Student	I'm new to Jedi Academy, I have v1.01 and when i try to refresh/update internet servers i only get 1 server..if any. I downloaded allseeingeye and i got more servers but i cant connect to any of them? any help is much appreciated

ok, this is the weirdest problem that ive come across in a long time.

By opening the ports and creating a server that people can join to, the firewall is definitely configured to allow both inbound and outgoing traffic from and to all ips using those ports. this means the problem can no longer be a firewall/router issue.

the most obvious thing that immediately comes mind (if youre just trying to join one of our servers) is that the password has been put in wrong. could this be it?

if not, next try getting a jk3 minimiser, or running in windowed mode and see if any pop-ups or messages appear in the background when you open jk3 and try to join a server.

i actually tried the ports in the readme as well and yep...i can create a server on the internet and ppl can join

lol yeah, back to the problem though, are you able to create servers and have people join to them?

I think that's Jedi Outcast you're thinking about. All of it's ports are 28000's. For Jedi Academy, it's the 29000's.

actually the specific UDP ports that Jedi Academy uses are 28060, 28061, 28062, and 28070 through 28081 (inclusive.)

Ah, you might have to open up ports in your router then. Open ports ranging from 29000 to 29500. That should fix it.

I am using wireless highspeed internet...i can play call of duty with no lag at all and a ping usually around 50 or less...i have windows firewall and my anti-virus firewall completely turned off...i am however using a router, it doesnt have any firewalls that i know of...it is a D-Link DI-604 if that helps

both firewall and windows firewall?

are you running some kind of router/hardware firewall that would cause this?

im asking this to be sure, as this is the most common cause behind these problems

It could mean that the server is down, or your connection is so bad it's not actually connecting to the server. What connection are you running?

sry bout the double post but my internet messed up and i magically posted twice....ok, so my game is set to internet games, and i dont get an error msg when i join from the 'eye'..it goes into the game to the screen that says 'connecting to server....' and the time just keeps increasing but i dont connect...this doesnt happen for other games i have....

....my firewalls are turned off and still the same thing

this might sound stupid, but make sure all the your settings are correct in the online play menu. I was confused a bit that no servers were appearing when i got the game, but i saw that i had LAN not internet selected
